"Peter Walrathis is the best there is! I called literally 30-40 landscaping companies to help with my 12,000 square foot lot, my front yard and backyard was a disaster. I called companies in Nokomis, Sarasota, Bradenton, Tampa, called everybody on angie's list, craigslist, references through contractors, I called everybody I possibly could. I had so many landscapers go to the house, it was a mad house. The quotes came pouring in. Out of all these companies, Peter was the only one that had true creativity and talent to beautify the landscape. His price also beat all 30 to 40 companies. Not only was every company's price 6k to 8k, but they all had poor ideas on how the landscaping would actually come out. First day he was at my house, he went into depth on the names of trees and plants and what he thought was best to make the landscaping look good. His description was a million times better than everybody else, this is very important when designing the landscaping. He did the front yard and back yard and put in irrigation all for $3500, half price of everybody else. Price was half and he had the absolute best design and ideas and knew the names of all the trees and plants. I said one of the names of plants to another landscaper, and he was like "whats that?" Peter even is cutting my grass monthly for free until the house sales, amazing. I highly recommend using Peter because he won out of 40 companies on having the best price and the best design ideas. Peter is very talented and will work with you on price so you are in your budget and happy!"

"Excellent first contact with the company when they called me. Got scheduled for a quote visit quickly. Electrician was friendly and competent. After a quick discussion upon his arrival, I opted to just have the ceiling fans installed. No outlet or light switch work was performed. The price was higher than some of the other companies for the same work, but it was still within the range of what others in the area have paid."

"I called Jessica when my regular decorator was unable to help me redecorate my bathrooms and I was not disappointed! Jessica responds to all questions and phone calls almost immediately and I absolutely love her choices. My husband was not excited about updating our bathrooms until he saw Jessica’s mood-boards and now even he can’t wait to get started on the project. My only concern is that once the bathrooms are complete we will want to do more updating! Thank you Jessica and Dani! Would definitely recommend. I am a retired real estate agent so I have worked with many home stagers and decorators throughout my 35 year career and I think Jessica’s talents are among the best."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

To maintain your outdoor lighting and prevent major issues, you should regularly clean the fixtures, inspect the wiring and connections, and replace worn or burnt-out bulbs promptly. These simple steps ensure consistent operation and extend the life of your lighting system.

Before investing in motion sensor lights, there are a couple of disadvantages worth noting. For starters, they’re not as reliable as other forms of lighting. Motion sensor lights can be accidentally triggered by pets or wind, which can become a nuisance after a while. The opposite situation can occur, too, where they don’t turn on when you need them to.

Yes, outdoor lights and receptacles should be on a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for safety. The outdoors is considered a wet location where GFCI protection is generally required. A GFCI enhances safety by automatically tripping and shutting off the circuit if it detects an imbalance, which protects against electrocution and reduces the risk of an electrical fire. While it is the safest approach for all outdoor electrical components, specific requirements can vary depending on the type of light (e.g., pool lights), its location, and local electrical codes. For guidance tailored to your specific situation, it's best to consult a professional electrician.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post
