Found Delmarva Tree Service on Craigslist, $180 oak delivered. Ordered a cord, Hank delivered on 10 Feb. When he dumped the wood and I questioned the amount, Hank assured me they?d make it right if it was short. He was emphatic that they wanted repeat customers, not just one-time customers. After he left I stacked the wood in a 2DX16WX4H (128 cubic feet) spot, but it only filled 2x10.75X4 spot (86 cubic feet or 67% of a cord). I immediately sent Sherry a picture of the stacked wood with a marker of how wide it needed to be to fill the 16W and she quickly responded (six minutes later) ?I will contact hank an have you down another load to justify?. My response was ?That?s fine?. Dover had a decent amount of snow the rest of the month, so I wasn?t overly concerned about not getting the delivery ? I didn?t ?bug? them ? didn?t really expect them to load/deliver wood in the snow. A month later, on 13 Mar 15, I called and left msg asking about the wood. No response. I texted and asked if she'd rec'd my message and she texted back "yes". That was it. I texted ?and???. No response. 24 Mar 15 -- left another message 15 Apr 15: sent msg on their FB page: Sherry. Contacted you several times about when you can deliver the last third of the cord of firewood I paid for Feb 10th. I questioned Hank about the amount of wood and he was very emphatic during the delivery that you wanted my continued business, not just the one delivery and if there was a problem with the amount to just let you know. After stacking the wood that day, I sent a picture of the stack clearly showing a shortage of 1/3 of the cord. You texted back that you would have Hank deliver another load to finish up. Shortly after that we had a month of snow, so I didn't bother y'all. On March 16th I texted you about a call the previous week again asking about scheduling a delivery. You responded only "yes". I've called a few times since and gotten no answer -- left a couple of messages and had no response. My question is "are y'all planning to complete the delivery of the full cord of wood that I paid $180 for, refund a third of the money for the missing third-cord of wood, or simply stiff me?". She responded on FB about how much she appreciated my patience. Nothing about a delivery. 10 Apr 15; 1539; called left msg. No response. 29 Apr 15; Texted that I would appreciate her getting in touch about the delivery of the rest of the firewood. No response 1 May 15 I texted that I was going to put a review of Delmarva Tree Service on Angie?s List. No response Bottom line: I paid $180 for a cord of wood but rec?d 2/3 a cord. This customer?s satisfaction is obviously not very high. Their communication is mostly non-existent. In my case, getting only 2/3 of what I paid for only cost me $60. If you pay a few thousand dollars for tree service and only get 2/3 of what you pay for, how much would you be out?? I have a friend who has several trees he wants down, but there?s no way I would recommend Delmarva Tree Service. In my opinion, they do NOT want long-time customers. I would not recommend Delmarva Tree Service of Smyrna, DE to a friend.
NOTE: I posted the above in my FB timeline on 4 May. I immediately got a text response from Sherry Stiller of Delmarva Tree. She said ?I don?t work on weekends your wood will be there out of 200 cords you are the only person that complained? to which I responded ?Thank you for your response. I may be the only one that measured the cord. You saw the picture?. ?Ok? she texted back.
Nothing more heard so on 20 May I texted ?Sherry, how about you guys deliver the rest of the wood you owe my the 10th of June. That gives you some time and it well make it 4 months from when you said you would make it right. I think that?s probably about enough patience?. She replied ?It will be there before then?. ?Thank you? I replied.
Nothing heard. On 10 June I texted ?Sherry, today?s the 10th?. Within a couple of minutes she called, said it was ready to go, but could I wait until Monday to deliver it (Monday June 15th). She said they had 18 deaths in the family and among customers. I said okay.
On Monday, 15 Jun, I texted (kind of as a reminder), ?Sherry, I have to go out but Hank can leave the wood where he dropped it off last February. Thanks.? to which she prelied ?Ok, I will let him know I?m in the hospital broke the blood vesels in my legs? then sent a picture of her legs. ?Thanks. Sorry to hear about your legs. Time for you to catch a break . . .? I replied. No delivery.
On Tuesday, 16 Jun I texted ?I just downloaded a J.P. Civ. Form No. 1. This would be a lot easier if you?d just deliver the wood.?. She replied ?I told you I was bringing you the wood?. My last text was ?Sherry, you?ve been telling me that since February. Friday you asked me if I would give you until Monday. That was yesterday.?
-- So, four months, six days later, still no firewood. I?ll file the form for small claims tomorrow. Plan to rate them on Craigslist and Angie?s List.
Oh, and I?m still looking for a dependable trustworthy small business that sells firewood.

The only thing they cleaned while I was gone picking up my mother, they had only cleaned the small kitchen, including cleaning the refrigerator and wiped off the front of the cabinets. He said he would clean the tops of the cabinets, but I can’t get up to the top myself to check. He just swept the living room floor and moved some blankets, and then called it a day. I was only gone about 2 and a half hours. For 4 people to do all that work, it should not have taken so long. On the contract I signed with him, I need carpet laid in one room and needed the room painted. I usually pay my normal painter $100 for the labor and he paints perfectly every time. Dennis charged me $270 for painting labor. He said he also had someone to lay the carpet and needed to go pick out the carpet. The one guy charged $150 and were in and out in an hour to lay the carpet. He said he had someone to paint but decided he was just going to do it himself and brought two other people with him and still charged me $270 and it took them 2 days with 3 people, 7 hours each day with all 3. My room is only 14’ by 16’ and does not have high ceilings. I ended up getting the flu and was in the other room so couldn’t watch what they were doing, but I could hear them. He finished the paint job and said he was going to leave because he didn’t want to get sick, which I was fine with because I prefer to watch what they’re doing. Everything that was on the list took longer than what it normally should. It took 2 men 3 hours to hang a mini blind in the bathroom with the brackets already installed. They reinstalled the brackets on the framing on the window where the curtains are supposed to go, so I’m going to have to end up re-installing the brackets again. I think part of what he did was the 2 days he was here painting and brought the other two guys, I was keeping track of what time they came and they typically say they would be here at 9, but wouldn’t show up until 10:30. I knew I was being cheated for time and needed him to just finish these small jobs and be done with him, but it didn’t get done without me ending up paying $2750. When he had to move the furniture, he moved everything into the den and trashed the whole room and never put anything back. He was supposed to clean the floors and windows and never did. He was going to make one area a walk-in closet with a rail, and put about a foot and a half wide rail on the wall and knocked 3 other holes in the sheet rock in our finished, recently remodeled basement and left them and didn’t tell me. He had a few receipts for materials for a few things from Home Depot and I had asked him to pick up some rock salt to prepare for the snow storm, which he did and said he laid it down and shoveled the sidewalk and charged so much extra to do that on about an inch of snow. I asked him to save the receipt and I would pay him back. When I asked him what he did with the rest of the bag when it was getting ready to snow again, he said he had thrown the little bit that was left away. Usually a bag will last me all winter, and said he had purchased just a small bag. I feel like he had just used a small portion on our sidewalks and taken the rest home for himself. He is a nice man, but I would not recommend him. I was going to need someone to help with packing my belongings to prepare for an upcoming move, and when he asked if I still needed him for that job, I would let him know, but incidentally do not intend to have him back. He did not justify the hours for each project and would leave halfway through the job and go somewhere else, and I still ended up paying for all the work by the hour. Now I know I shouldn’t pay by the hour, but should pay by the job instead."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/de/dover/1st-state-power-clean-llc-reviews-7787803.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"DILSHEIMER COMMUNITIES","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"DE","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Eleanor M."},"reviewBody":"Construction delayed due to very bad winter weather, then rushed during spring & summer of 2003. Move-in day: muddy path from driveway because slate walkway had not been installed; when slate was finally installed it retained puddles (feet wet walking from driveway to front door), their proposed ?solution? was to remove a strip soil next to walkway, which would have been unsightly (my husband put crushed rock underneath & replaced slate, which was the solution, which they had refused to do); grading of property extremely poor: swale at side/back became a one-to-two-week ?lake? after each rain (we contacted County inspector who exerted pressure to fix and then add the promised topsoil ( ?soil? was mainly road construction debris & clay); concrete basement floor badly cured, surface chalked badly, impossible to apply concrete paint without heavy scraping on our part; and moisture from curing concrete (likely poured after framing-in) caused plywood underlayment of vinyl kitchen floor to warp, rising about 6?. Notwithstanding the Home Warranty, they refused to replace vinyl flooring but merely put in a patch, of inferior quality & not exact color, patch deteriorated & bllistered to the point floor had to be replaced.
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Beyond ?F? ? not describable in polite company. Dilsheimer Senior had a wonderful reputation in the building industry as a high-quality builder. Unbeknownst to us when we decided to purchase our home, he had retired and turned over business to his sons. Our assumption that the company would continue to provide the same quality homes was way off.
PRICE: overpriced for the quality (i.e., lack of quality) of construction and follow-up service. Two years prior we had had a house built in central Florida for about the same price, but of much, much higher quality.
QUALITY OF THEIR WORK: overall ?F? a list of ONLY some of the problems: house wrap never installed in places on exterior walls--project by front door necessitated temporary removal of vinyl siding at which point we discovered this; abysmal interior paint job (sags, drips on walls, poor surfaces on trim, paint drips on carpet; house sill (framework to concrete basement walls) not sealed/caulked, allowing hundreds of crickets to infest basement; lavatory bowl in one bath chipped & deliberately covered with paint ?speck? to disguise damage; heating duct on floor immediately next to toilet in master bath (a potentially serious problem if toilet overflowed or other mishap due to illness; wall/ceiling juncture at wall dividing dining area from rest of home mismeasured and off?they refused to repair citing infinitesimal measurement difference; quality of double-paned windows so poor that interiors ice up in winter; walking on the floor in dining area caused dishes to rattle on the hutch ?so-called fix (nailing a single board between several rafters) did nothing to improve; cold air entering from lower section of back door, worker pushed a 6-7? piece of felt, rather than replace improper weatherstripping.
RESPONSIVENESS: promptness ?C? followed by incompetent or inadequate service consequent to our complaints: ?F?
PROFESSIONALISM: Not very professional. We did the walk-thru immediately prior to closing at attorney?s offce, the carpet apparently littered with construction dust, not vacuumed, told they hadn?t yet had time to do so, but they would finish clean-up by the time we had returned later that afternoon from attorney?s office. (not done I suspect probably so we wouldn?t realize that carpet had multiple paint spatters.) Maintenance foremen repeatedly made excuses, such as ?your problem with the kitchen vinyl was caused by water, you should be careful when you open the dishwasher.? Of course, totally specious excuse, sheet vinyl flooring is washed with damp mop). Builder attempted ?payback? after they were required to re-grade swale & top with real topsoil by sending us an order in violation of FCC regulations & Federal case law to remove our rooftop TV dish.

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
