"Alex was excellent. He responded immediately, always answered the phone when I called, went out of his way to see me after hours on my schedule to get me an estimate, gave me a price well below the competitors. His team worked very quickly and efficiently, and we're working literally every moment they were on the property; lunch breaks were staggered so work was always happening. They did great work, cleaned up well, and solved my problem. They were 100% "can do" and I would recommend them again. I even offered to be a reference. Alex is a great project manager!"

"Professional! Timely! They were the only contractor, whose estimator got out his ladder, got to the specific areas of concern, took pictures to show me and actually found a couple of small issues to add to the list. Plus upon signing the contract, I received a call the same day for them to come and complete the work. Would recommend them highly!!"

"We have a pretty old house that hasn't had much work done to the basement. He gave me an honest assessment of what was going on, and the level of work needed, but it was pretty obvious to me that he didn't want the job, either. I got a little education out of it, but he never sent me an estimate and never contacted me again after leaving.

On Monday Chuck and the foreman came to start work on the kitchen floor. I was told I needed more tiles so I went and purchased them. When I returned, tile was being laid, I asked if he removed the old tile and was told it wasn't necessary. They came back Tuesday and finished laying tile and when the foreman put the thresholds down it was not level at all. The new tile is thick. I'm not happy with that as it has become a tripping problem. I was told by the foreman to take a wet sponge and wipe the grouting powder the next day as it wasn't worth his while to drive all that way to do. So I had to do it myself with my bad knees. It took 4 months to obtain a receipt for the job.

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

The entire window replacement process, from the initial consultation to the final installation, typically takes between four and 15 weeks. This timeline accounts for measuring appointments, ordering, and manufacturing. On the day of the job, the physical installation takes about 30 minutes to two hours per window. A full-house replacement can take one to three days to complete. Factors that can extend this timeline include the total number of windows, custom sizes, complex window types, second-story installations, and any necessary repairs to existing window frames or openings.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.
