"They were among the low bidders, arrived on time, provided professional quality services, went slightly beyond contracted services, worked efficiently, and were pleasant to be around. Enthusiastically recommend to anyone. We will use them again."

"David was on time, very professional and knowledgeable (his prior work experience really showed through). He transferred the contents of our guest room into the master bedroom, reassembled the queen bed frame (including the under-the-bed storage system) and arranged everything as requested. All in all, a very pleasant and satisfactory experience. Would definitely request his services again for any similar project(s)."

"Albert and his team are true professionals. He does both small and large jobs. For the larger jobs, he makes a computer rendering to allow u to see the finished product. Once the job is completed, then he makes sure that the work site is cleared of any debris. I would highly recommend A&R Construction for your next project."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Hiring a handyperson offers several benefits. They can save you time and hassle by completing tasks you may not have the time or experience to do yourself. A key advantage is ensuring the project is done correctly, which can prevent future issues and save money in the long run. For projects that pose safety risks, hiring an experienced professional is a much safer option. Additionally, handypeople are often more available for smaller jobs that larger contractors may not have the schedule for.

While a handyperson will do the odd small job for your home, a maintenance person is responsible for conducting regular inspections and repairs. Maintenance people may come in to do small fixes and diagnose any issues you might be facing, but may not have all the same technical abilities as a handyperson.

A handyperson is the professional term used to describe professional fixers who can tackle a wide range of general home repairs. Some pros may prefer to use the term handyworker, handyman, or handywoman, so we recommend politely asking your pro how they would like you to identify them during the project.

You can find a reliable handyperson by looking at professionals in your area and ruling out companies with poor reviews online. Next, check each handyperson on the Better Business Bureau to see if they have a history of complaints and rule out those that do. Finally, you can contact each handyperson to ask the following qualifying questions:

  • What is your hourly rate?

  • Are there any jobs you can’t tackle?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Do you have references I can contact?

A big resounding yes, hiring a contractor is 100% worth it. They bring expertise, manage permits, coordinate professions in different trades, and help avoid costly mistakes. A pro can keep your project on budget and schedule while ensuring quality work that adds value to your home.
