"It went very well. They arrived early and planted everything perfectly. Cleaned the yard quickly and effeciently. They even put together and installed some ornamental lighting. Pleasant experience."

"I worked with Sarah when I was redoing all the floors and paint in my home. She has a great sense of color and style and was so easy to work with, providing suggestions and guidance on how to achieve my vision, not trying to impose hers. I am very happy with the results and strongly recommend her firm."

"I am still in the early stages of my project but I could not wait a second longer to brag on the wonderful, Jessica. From the moment we were on our call I was poured into and felt seen, heard & instantly connected to Jessica. Her passion and dedication for her work were quickly apparent and even though we’d only spoken for minutes, it felt like I’d known for years. Her interest and excitement for my project was a breath of fresh air. All of this is new to me and seeking the right help has not been the easiest process, but with Jessica, things felt right. We didn’t need to sleep on it or hold off because she made us feel sure. Despite having a smaller budget, Jessica was adamant about respecting that budget and making sure I was comfortable throughout the process. Her reassurance was comforting and her kindness was unmatched. I feel honored to have such an amazing human help turn our new house into a home. I am happy. I am excited and I am ready. Thank you, Jessica. Let’s do this! <3"

"My initial plan was to modernize my home but I wasn’t sure where to start and what to do, but after consulting with Alvaro Pardo and KREA Designs, he designed new finishes and proposed a full renovation project tailored to my budget. It took me some time to warm up to the idea of making bigger changes, but he was incredibly patient throughout the process. I renovated my bedroom, bathroom, living room and made small changes in the hall and kitchen. His contractors were kind, professional, and respectful, especially Harold Mendez, his carpenter, who created elegant and customized furnitures. Alvaro kept me updated about the progress of the renovation and took care of everything, so I didn’t have to worry, but consulting me any changes or last minute decisions. He was also very open to feedback, including suggestions from my family. I’m very happy with the results, and my place now looks modern and cozy. I would recommend KreA to anyone without hesitation."

"Instead of just lighting the driveway he designed the lighting plan, picking particular trees to light to illuminate an aesthetic path up to the house.  The result is wonderful!  The lights on the walkway to the and deck are carefully positioned and the entire effect is wonderful.  I plan to have him back to do lights in the backyard as well.

"Very responsive, a professional and very pleasant mechanic, excellent work, a bit exspensive, over $500.00 for 5plugs. The problem is they failed to fix the plug that was dead and failed to investigate or repair the flickering lights. I still have no idea if there is a fire hazard due to an electrical short. They did not appear to have any interest in dealing with the issue. Bottom line: I now have to hire another electrician. I originally chose Palmer because they are local, were very responsive to my inquiry and had an excellent rep per Angie's List. It is unclear to me why they were unwilling to complete the job. In any event, they failed me. I will identify and retain another electrician, just not through Angie's List . They failed me as well."

"Larry and his crew upgraded our under cabinet lighting with new LED lighting, and specialized outlet. Not only was our home and its contents treated as if they lived here, the job was done professionally. So much so, that the only issue we had was when the switch/outlet face plate screws came loose. I didn’t even bother calling Larry, I tightened them myself. The lighting is on, literally 24 hours per day since the install, with zero issues. Love these guys."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

If you need to visually inspect your Christmas lights to determine which are good and which need replacement, there are a few things to look for. First, look for discoloration, such as a dark spot or two on the inside of the glass. The spot is an indication of a burnt filament. Also, look for missing filaments, cracked bulb glass, and broken sockets.

Testing tools, such as Christmas light testers, non-contact proximity electrical testers, and multimeters, all simplify the process of testing Christmas lights. However, without one or more of those tools, testing Christmas lights the old-fashioned way only works sometimes. Without testing tools, the simplest testing method is visual inspection, which may or may not yield positive results.

If you take home a pre-lit Christmas tree but want to spruce it up with blinking lights, don’t worry, there’s a simple solution. You can easily replace the light bulbs on the pre-lit tree with flashing bulbs. For a more subtle look, only replace some of the bulbs with flashing bulbs.

While most general electricians can repair lamps and light fixtures, it is often better to hire a lamp repair specialist. Many electricians prefer larger jobs, such as fixing electrical systems or relocating fixtures, and may not offer lamp repair services due to the small scale of the work. Additionally, some lamps, particularly antique models, require dedicated expertise that a general electrician might not have. A lamp repair specialist will be familiar with various types of fixtures and can provide a more dedicated service. If you have already hired an electrician for a larger project, you can ask them to look at your lamp, but for a standalone repair, a specialist is typically the best option.

The cost of lamp repair generally ranges from $30 to $150, with an average cost of around $75. Common repairs like rewiring or replacing a switch typically cost around $60 and $80, respectively. The final price depends on factors such as the type of lamp, the complexity of the issue, and the parts required. Keep in mind that repair costs may be higher for ornate or antique lamps. It's a good practice to ask for a price quote from a professional lamp repair service to determine if the investment is worthwhile.
