"Dj and the team at Roberts construction did a fantastic job building a detached garage at my house from start to finish. His team handled everything from designing and drafting the prints, pulling permits, excavation, and building. If you?re looking for a reliable contractor at a great fair price, Robert?s construction can handle the job."

The work was done expertly and quickly. The hole was filled and grass sowed in. The completely report was delivered by email within 48 hrs as promised. The invoice was in agreement with quote. "Jeremy and his team did a wonderful job. They installed fence panels, a privacy panel, bamboo outdoor curtains and some artificial ivy for me. They were fast, professional, left my yard immaculately clean and even hauled away the trash so my bins wouldn’t overflow. I already have several more projects planned with them! I would highly recommend Jeremy and his team at Eastern Woodland Solutions and I look forward to working with them again in the future."

"As I indicated before Tasha is a dynamo . I was pleasantly surprised at how complete the snow was removed, to the pavement. She has been here twice and has been a joy to have around. Always upbeat and a friendly smile to boot."

"Francis was a top notch professional in all aspects with this job, above and beyond to help us out with our excavation needs. He stayed in communication with us and followed through with our plumber. Had recommendations to help us out all the way through the project. I would definitely refer and hire again. Very honest and sincere. Thank Kelley and Bert."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair a crawl space runs between $1,500 and $15,000, depending on the extent of the damage. Major flooding or water repairs can cost up to $10,000 for removal and repairs. If you simply need to clean your crawl space, expect to pay between $2,000 and $6,000 for a major cleanout. Replacing a crawl space beam due to rot or damage can cost between $1,500 and $5,000, while removing and replacing damaged insulation costs between $1,000 and $4,000.

Excavations take a few days or up to a few weeks. The time it takes to excavate an area depends on the size of the area, the type of soil, the type of excavator, and even the time of year, since winter can make digging up the ground more difficult.

Digging a well can cost between $20 and $25,000, depending on your needs. If you’re looking to dig a well yourself, all you need is a shovel. If you’re looking to have a well drilled by a professional, you can expect to pay around $15 to $30 per foot. The total cost of drilling a well will average to $5,500.

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Most states do not require excavation companies to hold specific licenses, but many require at least a contractor’s license. Additionally, heavy equipment operators require a special commercial equipment license to operate machinery required for excavation. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing tool to confirm that an excavation company you’re considering hiring is fully licensed. You should also make sure that the excavation team is fully insured before allowing them to work on your property.
