"Outdoor Property Services tackled our 1.5 acre yard covered thick in the Autumn leaf, stick, and acorn fall. It was a huge undertaking to say the least; work that we could no longer handle. The crew removed all of the leaves and all of those little tiny sticks that are so prevalent in yards with old growth oak trees. The outcome was spotless; I don t remember our yard ever looking so good. We would definitely recommend them and we couldn t be happier."

Small jobs welcome

"I've been looking for a professional like Ryan - not only was it a great price, but more importantly he showed up and is very reliable. He and his tree climber, Jarrod, did a beautiful, thorough job of removing a couple of trees and pruning many of the rest in our tree grove. Watching the grace and care with which they handled the trees endeared me to them. They were even meticulous about carrying everything away. With gratitude!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

The EPA enforces hazardous waste laws and ensures people dispose of their hazardous waste responsibly. Depending on where you live, your state’s hazardous waste regulatory agency may also enforce these laws. Individually, it’s up to each household to properly dispose of their hazardous waste.

Professional lead-paint abatement companies use a variety of methods to remove lead-based paint, depending on each particular situation. Some of the most common methods include:

  • Total removal: $8–$17 per square foot

  • Demolition and replacement: $1,000–$15,000 per project

  • Encapsulation: $4 per square foot

  • Enclosure: $10 per square foot

  • Chemical stripping: $10–$17 per square foot

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

Lead exposure poses significant health risks, including neurological, developmental, and behavioral disorders, especially critical in young children and fetuses.
