"I cannot express how pleased and how happy we were with the work that Jason the owner of outdoor property services and his team did for this project. My mom, a former garden club president of her town, and father used to maintain the most pristine beautiful yard. Now that they are up in years, it has been several years and much of their hard work had fallen into neglect. Jason came in with his team and brought the entire yard back into its former glory. We had extensive vine issues and invasive weeds in every bed around the house. They went through methodically pulling out the weeds while saving her treasured decorative trees and bushes. They mulched and it is absolutely as beautiful as it ever was. My parents were so pleased. I would recommend Jason to anyone and everyone who is looking for landscaping services in our area. Plus he's just a great guy and he was so great to work with. Highly highly highly recommended."

"Jeremy and his team did a wonderful job. They installed fence panels, a privacy panel, bamboo outdoor curtains and some artificial ivy for me. They were fast, professional, left my yard immaculately clean and even hauled away the trash so my bins wouldn’t overflow. I already have several more projects planned with them! I would highly recommend Jeremy and his team at Eastern Woodland Solutions and I look forward to working with them again in the future."

"We had Dan's Dump Runs remove an old shed, throughly clean the surrounding area in backyard, and install a gravel bed for the new shed we are installing. Dan is a ex-military guy, and it shows - very punctual, meets the quoted price, no surprises while the job is underway, and leaves the worksite spotless. Can't recommend him enough."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, chipmunk holes may have two or more entrances. Chipmunks can create an entire network of burrows. Having multiple entrances makes it easier for them when trying to escape from a predator, such as a snake, or if an entrance collapses due to flooding. Each entrance leads to the nesting chamber underground, which is where the chipmunk spends the majority of its time sleeping.

Most professional excavation teams will charge between $8 and $15 per cubic yard. Calculate the cost by finding the volume of your pool—width x length x depth—and dividing it by 27. Then, multiply the price by the cubic yards from your equation. Budget for complications like a rocky lawn, hard-to-access pool area, or high local labor prices.

A walk-behind trencher can cut through roots as long as they’re not too thick, making a project much easier than digging with a shovel and other hand tools. Assess your terrain and the number of trees in the surrounding area to determine if a walk-behind trencher will ease the job. Digging a trench by hand is much more time-consuming and labor-intensive.

A crawl space can be as little as 42 inches below the grade of your house, but this is not always recommended in flood-prone areas. At a minimum, there must be at least 16 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists to access the space in an emergency.

Most residential basements are 8 to 10 feet deep. You can dig deeper depending on building codes, but it does become more difficult. You’ll likely need to install stronger foundation walls and additional supports to handle the increased load. Depending on the water table, you may also need a water management system. Clay soil can support a deeper foundation than sandy soil. A structural engineer will be able to tell you the maximum, feasible depth.
