"The work that Nixon and his crew did in My momâ s hom was done efficiently and with great care for my motherâ s house. I found him to be responsive, creative, and the work was very reasonably priced. I would recommend him for both small and large projects."

Small jobs welcome

"I've got a 112 year old hose that is pretty solid, but it had a cracked floor joist and part of the flooring wasn't properly supported. I hired Kristian and his team to install a couple of lally columns to support a carrying beam and sister a couple of floor joists. Many contractors wouldn't even return my call because I wasn't looking to complete a huge remodel job, but Kristian came over, gave me a fair verbal estimate on the spot, and worked with me on timing to complete the project. Not only that, but the solution wasn't overly complicated. The job was straightforward, completed exactly as described in the time described, and there was no scope creep. If I ever have a larger need, they'll certainly be my first call. I would highly recommend K&X construction if you need any services that they offer."

"Hiring Jermaine to do various improvements at my house was a great decision. He has a strong work ethic, quality skills and an eye for attention to detail. Jermaine made sure to explain his plan for work before he started , during the work and after the work was done. He has a great attention for detail and makes sure his work is done right the first time. I will be keeping Jermaine’s number on speed dial and have already referred him to my friends."

"Residing your house is a major project. We spent time researching siding products and receiving estimates from various companies. We met Tony Simone through HomeAdvisor and he was the clear choice to do the job. He gave us information on the products we were considering and introduced us to a wood polymer product. We live near the Long Island Sound and deal with high winds, salt air and woodpeckers. The wood polymer product is very sturdy and resilient against these elements. Tony and his crew did an amazing job. Our home is old and had cedar shingles. Tony was very thorough and identified and repaired several areas of rotted wood under the cedar shingles. Tony fixed everything and once the KWP siding was up our house looked brand new. The cedar shingles on the front of our house had some beautiful style features and we wanted to keep those interesting details. We met with Tony to plan out a similar design. Tony and his crew managed to create a masterpiece. Tony and his crew were at our home every day until the project was completely done from start to finish. Tony is easy to work with, excellent with staying in communication, and his crew were all very skilled, personable and good with daily clean up. We had an excellent experience with Simone Builders LLC and have already signed up for a new deck next Spring."

Garages questions, answered by experts

Your epoxy garage floors will last two to 10 years, depending on foot traffic and maintenance. Clean your floor regularly with a mop or a power washer using a diluted ammonia or degreaser solution. Use five ounces of ammonia per gallon of water or a half-cup of degreaser per gallon of water.

Also, sweep regularly, clean up any spills right away, and install mats in places where you expect the most foot traffic.

On average, RV garage doors are 12 to 14 feet tall to accommodate the large vehicles. Most RVs are approximately 9.5 feet tall but can be taller due to features such as air conditioners, satellite dishes, and luggage racks

Single and double garage doors have pros and cons, but it's all based on personal preference regarding which one is better for you. Two single garage doors give you more control over airflow entering your garage but double the system, which means double the upkeep cost.

On the other hand, two-car double garage doors are more convenient but can stop you from leaving if a piece of hardware malfunctions.

If you open your garage manually, you don’t need sensors. If you have an automatic garage door opener, sensors are required by law. The federal law UL 325 mandates that all residential garage door openers in the U.S. must include sensors. Designed to prevent accidents and reduce the risk of entrapment, the sensors should be able to reverse the motion of the garage door within two seconds of detecting an obstruction. The sensors are there to keep you, your family, and your belongings safe from a door that might otherwise come down too hard or too fast.

The lifespan of garage door springs depends on the type and quality of the springs, the physical environment, and the level of use. In general, properly installed and maintained springs open and close a garage door around 10,000 times . That equates to around seven years if you open and close the door about four times a day. If you use your garage door more frequently, live in a very cold or humid environment that promotes corrosion or rust, or have a very heavy door, your springs may wear out faster and require replacing sooner.
