McGuane's Landscaping is a locally owned and family run landscaping and tree service. We have been in business for over 27 years. Our main focus is on lawn fertilization and Tree and Shrub spraying. Our fully licensed technicians will inspect your property and recommend a lawn and/or tree spraying program designed just for your property.

"Had this service for two years and ultimately was never happy with the results. I found the employees to be rude, disrespectful, and not willing to work through the problems that I brought to their attention. I had asked on a number of occasions for someone to come out and figure out why my grass was constantly burning, even when being watered regularly. I was spoken to like a child and disrespected beyond belief, simply to feel like an idiot."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

If you plan on laying new grass seed, try to wait eight weeks before stepping on it. You might need to wait an entire season to drive your car across the driveway. Sod establishes itself in the ground in about two weeks.

The frequency of lawn aeration depends on factors such as soil type, yard traffic, and lawn health. In most cases, annual aeration is sufficient to maintain a healthy lawn. However, if your lawn experiences heavy use or soil compaction issues, you may consider aerating twice a year. Keep an eye on your grass and soil conditions to determine when aeration is needed to keep your lawn in its best shape.

Yes, you should water the lawn after aerating. Now that you’ve loosened up the soil to better receive nutrients, it’s time to hydrate and fertilize your lawn. You’ll want to keep it evenly moist to promote healthy growth. Don’t drown your grass—too much of a good thing can reverse all the work you’ve done with aeration in the first place. But especially if you’ve overseeded and/or fertilized after aeration, you’ll want to ensure a moist soil layer to absorb those nutrients and fuel for new growth.

DIY is possible for small properties. Professional services ensure consistent quality and proper maintenance for large areas.

No, it's not a good idea to put grass seed directly on top of dead grass. For successful germination and growth, grass seed needs good soil contact. To prepare the area, start by removing the dead grass using a shovel or a sod cutter. Then, loosen the soil, add soil amendments if necessary, and spread the grass seed evenly. This allows the seed to come into direct contact with the soil, promoting better germination and establishing a healthier lawn.
