"The contractor we hired to do the work went out of business without telling us and we were stuck. Brian to the rescue. Even though our roof was much steeper than he usually works on he agreed to replace the glass in our three skylights. He did an excellent job and I couldn't be more thrilled. He prepped the roof one day and finished the job the next. It is a real treat to be able to see through our skylights again. Thank you Brian."

"I contacted M and J roofing about a leak. Lous response was quick and after inspecting my roof responded with urgency. I had many roofs installed over the past several years none of which seem to work due to the pitch. The most recent roof I put on was a metal roof, which was the source of many of the problems. After Lou inspected it he told me what needed to be done and after agreeing on the contract he started immediately. They are prompt and professional and both him and his son Nick are two of the kindest human beings I ever met. They told me they'd be here at 8:00 a.m. and they were here before that, they started at 8:00 and we're done by the end of the day. Lou and Nick kept me posted each step of the way and during the removal of the metal roof they showed me what went wrong and explained why it went wrong. In short it was because of companies or people that install roofs that don't care about their work that care about ripping off unsuspecting customers. That is why in closing I will say M and J roofing should be the only and I am stressing only company anybody should want to do any work on their roof."

"It was awesome. Someone had recommended this company to me and they were great. It snowed about a foot the day before and they showed up with about 10 guys and shoveled off the roof! They had the roof completed within a day. They came back the day after (which was a Sunday) to do a second walk through and to ensure everything was cleaned up. I would highly recommend them to others."

"Inexpensive, very professional, responsive and on time for a small repair. My roof will be near the end of it's useful life in the next couple of years. I will call Bonavino and no one else. Thanks guys! (FYI - another roofing company that I've used previously told me twice they were coming to do the repair. Both times they didn't even call or text to tell me and kept me hanging for over 2 weeks)"

Customers say: Super punctual

"L&L made several visit including Saturday and Sunday to evaluate the job and made several suggestions as to the best way to replace the roof without any damage to the interior of our house. They promised to pick a good day to do the job and complete the job in one day. They arrived at about 7:30 AM with a crew of about 10 workers and had the complete roof replaced and the yard completely cleaned up before 4:30 PM. This included new lead flashing for the chimney and replacing 2 sheets of plywood. In addition they guaranteed the workmanship of the roof for as long as we owned the house. We had no problems at all.

"The salesperson came to my house, inspected the roof, and then went over the estimate and his recommendations.  He was knowledgeable, professional and courteous.  I had a previous estimate from another roofer that was a few thousand dollars less expensive, but I also had a sample of what the other roofer proposed to use for shingles.  There was no comparison with the shingles.  The ones used by DiGiorgi were much thicker and of much better quality.
I gave a small deposit (2,000), and agreed upon a 3 week time frame for installation.  In the end, I asked them to delay a few more weeks because I was on vacation, and they accommodated that.
Before the job was done, I received written tips on how to prepare for the installation (regarding moving anything that might be in the way - which for me was not the case.  It also described how the job would be done, over 3 days, and want to expect at the end of each business day.
They arrived on the date promised, promptly at 8 a.m. and worked diligently each day.  At the end of each day, they cleaned the site before leaving. By day 3 the job was done.  No muss, no fuss.
One week later, a representative made an appointment with me to inspect the job and let him know if everything was to my satisfaction.  I can't think of one recommendation I would have given them for improvement.
The reason I went with this roofer  instead of others I had received quotes from, is because I have done business with them before for siding and for gutters.  In both cases, the process and the services were the same.  In fact, with regard to my siding, I had at least two times when I had dents into my siding (caused by us, not by siding defect).  I called the company and within a couple of days the siding was repaired - free of charge, no questions asked.  When they say lifetime guarantee, the really really mean it!
In short, of all the contractors I have done business with, I would have to rate DiGiorgi at the top of the list. Their prices will always be a slight bit higher - but their material will be top notch, their work meticulous, and their customer service extraordinary.

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Hail is unlikely to damage a tar and gravel roof because the hailstones will hit the protective gravel rather than your delicate roof membrane. A tar and gravel roof is the most resilient flat roof option, which means it’s the best one for areas that see hail, fallen tree debris, and blown debris from intense winds.

You can think of a flat roof as a green roof, as it does offer some environmentally-friendly advantages. When considering an eco-friendly flat roof, some of the green roof pros and cons include that you could place a garden with plants on the flat roof. Manufacturers may use recycled materials in the construction of the flat roof for an eco-friendly design.

The installation may have been done correctly. However, improperly installed gutter guards can easily damage your shingles. Also, cheap gutter guards rarely come with installation fixtures. In the worst cases, they simply ask you to nail the guards in, which would sabotage your roof’s water resistance and thus void the warranty. To be sure, always check with your home warranty provider before making any modifications.

As with any roofing material, there are benefits and drawbacks to consider before installing roll roofing. On the plus side, roll roofing is budget-friendly, lightweight, and comparatively easy to install. It is also ideal for low-sloped roofs and lasts around 10 years. The cons of roll roofing, however, include its low durability compared to roofing materials, restricted color choices, and low ROI.

Pros:

  • Low-cost

  • Lightweight

  • Cut to size

  • Easy and quick installation

  • Designed for low-sloped roofs

  • Waterproofs your roof for an average of 10 years

  • Easy to purchase and transport

Cons:

  • Less durable than asphalt shingles

  • More prone to cracks and tears

  • Short life span

  • Not as many color or style choices

  • Not as aesthetically pleasing as shingles, wood, or clay tiles

  • Not preferred for a higher home resale value

Replacing older chimneys or fireplaces, like wood-burning stoves, with something more eco-friendly can actually increase the value of your home. Some homeowners opt to remove chimneys as they pursue LEED certification, which may also increase the value of your home. But in general, many potential buyers actually look for operational fireplaces in homes, so removing a chimney and fireplace could decrease your home’s value by up to $5,000.
