"The contractor we hired to do the work went out of business without telling us and we were stuck. Brian to the rescue. Even though our roof was much steeper than he usually works on he agreed to replace the glass in our three skylights. He did an excellent job and I couldn't be more thrilled. He prepped the roof one day and finished the job the next. It is a real treat to be able to see through our skylights again. Thank you Brian."

"They stood head and shoulders over other contractors from start to finish. My roof looks beautiful and since I watched the entire install that day along with their project manager, I know it was a great job. Attention to detail, cleanup, courtesy - the whole package."

"Shaun, the owner of this locally owned business, came over with one of his workers, Evert. Evert went up on the roof and sent pics down to Shaun. Shaun and I sat down and went over everything that was going on with the roof so i could understand what was going on. He even had Evert go up in the attic to take a look around. He sat with me and discussed what the plan was! This man is professional and clearly knows what the roofing business. Excellent business man! He and two workers, Evert and Walter, showed up when they said they would and got right to work!!! After the job was completed, once again, pics were sent from top the roof to Shaun so i would see what a professional job they did. I have peace of mind!!!! I highly recommend you call SJM Roofing because they are EXPERTS!!!!"

"James was excellent and offered me a good deal. He was scheduled to start the job at 9am but was running late and called to say so. So many don't call, they just show up whenever. He replaced the missing and damaged shingles, power washed the garage roof, closed up entrances where squirrels were getting in my house and cleaned up nicely. I highly recommend him."

"They removed a woodstove stack and closed the roof back up. They worked quick, cleaned after themselves and did a seamless job. Can't even tell there was ever a stack coming out my roof. Highly recommend!!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

A chimney liner is typically easier to install by pushing it down through the chimney with the help of a rope. Depending on your fireplace and the type of liner, installing it by pushing it up through the chimney could work, but operating from the top down is usually the best option.

Yes, algae-resistant shingles will prevent algae and moss growth, providing double protection for your roof and roof flashing. The copper-infused granules on algae-resistant shingles release copper ions that inhibit plant growth in general, so moss will have a harder time growing on your roof, too. Keep in mind that copper ions flowing off your roof during rainfall can also inhibit plant growth below, so your gardens and grass may be affected.

A spray foam roof costs an average of $6,000 to install, making it one of the most affordable flat roofing options available. Costs can increase if you have a complex roof design with many roof vents or have a roof that’s larger than average. While up-front costs are relatively low, keep in mind that ongoing maintenance and repairs tend to be more expensive than you’d see with other flat roof materials.

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

The average cost of a metal roof for a 2,000-square-foot home is $11,700, but your price can range from $12,000 to $90,000, depending on the number of stories you have, your roof design, and the specific metal you choose. Reach out to a metal roofing company to get an accurate estimate customized for your home.
