"Let's be honest: plumbing isn't cheap. But, you really shouldn't want to cheap out on your plumber, considering how important plumbing is to your convenience and comfort, not to mention your health and well-being. We've used Matt and his crew twice: once to convert a closet into a two-piece powder room and once to fix a kitchen drain that was leaking in the wall and dripping into the basement. It smelled awful. Regardless of the size of the jobs Matt and his crew have tackled for us, they've done the work promptly, correctly, and at a reasonable price. He's a good guy, too -- friendly, courteous, responsive and makes sure his crew members model that same behavior. You can trust Matt to do what he says he'll do."
"He was great, friendly, on time, efficient and affordable. All fixed and working great. I would call him with any other plumbing need I ever have. Highly recommended."
"True Professionalism and Determination!! My local plumber did not feel he had proper equipment to snake the main septic line from house. Worried about baffles. Diagnosed the problem as a â soft blockageâ in the main septic line between house and tank. This was the cause of the washing machine stand pipe overflowing with water during drain cycle Septic company recommended Ace Electric Sewer. Paul came out with an assistant and dug up the septic cover to try to snake the blockage with a special blade on the end of the snake. That got some movement of water but not enough Water blasted the line from basement side clean out port which sits above the sump pump hole. That finished the job and water was flowing again. Considered a â sludge blockageâ which was probably due to age of house. Never had seen this type of service performed before, but it was truly needed at the end of June 2023 Not the easiest project, fair price, will definitely hire again if needed"
"After 35 years working in home improvements I dealt with lot of plumbers and to keep it short Todd and Mike are top professionals in their field! Knowledgeable, dependable and after dealing with most of plumbers in my area they are the only one that responded to my needs!"
"Rich, the technician at Budget Dry, did an excellent job installing my new sump pump. He was knowledgeable and he communicated well. I would recommend Budget Dry."
"It was after 5pm on a Friday and my kitchen sink was clogged and the pipes underneath were in pieces because the auger I had bought in an effort to DIY had ripped them apart. I was desperate to get this taken care of before the weekend. I was referred by HomeAdvisor to John Mansolf who immediately called me back. He no longer has a roto-rooter but graciously referred me to another plumber, Benny Medina (203)909-1099,who also answered right away. He was on another job but promised to get back to me. At 9pm on a Friday night, he came to my home, unclogged the clog and put my pipes together and charged a very reasonable price. I'm so happy I contacted Home Advisor! I'm just recently moved to CT and so I don't know any contractors."
Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts
Cosmetic plumbing in Durham, like swapping a showerhead, requires no permits and accommodates your schedule. Functional projects, such as relocating drain lines or replacing a water heater, demand permits and local health approvals for well or septic connections. Furthermore, cosmetic updates in older CT homes expose underlying functional hazards, like corroded steel pipes, which you must address before finishing the visible improvements.

Prioritize well water quality testing to determine if your Durham home requires a treatment system. Next, locate and inspect your septic tank, and identify your main water shutoff valve for winter emergencies. Hire a professional to assess older pipe materials and check the age of your water heater, as cold CT groundwater forces these units to work harder and shortens their overall lifespan.

Completing plumbing in Durham takes longer than in larger cities due to part-time municipal offices. Expect a standard water heater replacement to take one to three weeks from permit approval to final inspection. A whole-house repipe takes four to seven weeks. Remember to account for winter weather delays, as freezing temperatures across CT create emergency service spikes that extend standard project timelines by several weeks.

Start by locating your well and septic records before planning any underground plumbing in Durham. Contact local municipal offices early to confirm permit requirements and processing times. Verify that your chosen professional holds an active master license. Finally, schedule exterior pipe work outside the cold CT winter months, and request an inspection of older pipe materials to prevent unexpected delays during the upgrade process.
