Customers say: True professional

"Let's be honest: plumbing isn't cheap. But, you really shouldn't want to cheap out on your plumber, considering how important plumbing is to your convenience and comfort, not to mention your health and well-being. We've used Matt and his crew twice: once to convert a closet into a two-piece powder room and once to fix a kitchen drain that was leaking in the wall and dripping into the basement. It smelled awful. Regardless of the size of the jobs Matt and his crew have tackled for us, they've done the work promptly, correctly, and at a reasonable price. He's a good guy, too -- friendly, courteous, responsive and makes sure his crew members model that same behavior. You can trust Matt to do what he says he'll do."

"I had a great experience with Mr. Plunger Plumbing. They were professional, reliable, and did an excellent job replacing my water heater. They explained everything clearly, showed up when they said they would, and made sure the job was done right. I’m very happy with the work and would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs a good, trustworthy plumber."

"All of the people I dealt with at A.D.B. were very professional. The only issue was when I asked for references. The woman I spoke to said she would contact prior clients to make sure I could contact them. A week and a half later I was told that they do not give out clients names. If I was told that originally, I could have had the work started sooner. But the workers were quite knowledgeable. And answered all of the questions that I had. One reason I hired them is because their license is with the DEEP. The other estimates I received, those companies had licenses with the state as plumbers. I just felt that they may have had more knowledge on how to tackle the job. And another bonus is that the contract includes a one year guarantee. Not that expect I will need to call them back but it is good peace of mind. Overall, a great experience."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Cromwell experiences cold winters and deep freeze-thaw cycles that cause burst pipes in unheated spaces. You must bury exterior plumbing lines below the 48-inch CT frost line to prevent severe damage. Additionally, homes near the river face high water tables and require specialized basement drainage systems. Schedule seasonal maintenance, like irrigation winterization, before the first hard freeze in November to protect your home.

Helpful?

When planning plumbing projects, homeowners frequently overlook inspection scheduling delays and local easements near the Connecticut River. You must also identify your specific water source, as homes use municipal water or private wells. Older Cromwell properties built before 1986 have lead service lines requiring special attention. Always hire a licensed professional to manage permits and ensure your system meets all local regulations.

Helpful?

The best materials for plumbing depend on your water source and state building codes. Cromwell homes on private wells face acidic water conditions, requiring corrosion-resistant supply lines. Municipal water carries moderate hardness, which also dictates specific pipe selections. For exterior work, install durable underground pipes below the 48-inch CT frost line to prevent freezing. A licensed contractor will select code-approved materials suited for your property.

Helpful?

You must authorize all permit applications before starting plumbing work. Homeowners also make critical decisions regarding fixture placement, water heater locations, and system layouts. If your Cromwell property relies on a private well or septic system, you must determine testing schedules and capacity upgrades. You also hold responsibility for deciding how to handle lead service line replacements if you own an older CT home.

Helpful?

Keep children and pets away from open trenches, exposed pipes, and chemical treatments during plumbing renovations. To prevent scalding, ask your licensed professional to install thermostatic mixing valves and set your water heater to 120 degrees. If you live in an older Cromwell home, test your CT water supply for lead. Always flush newly connected lines and secure a final inspection certificate to guarantee household safety.
