"The quality of work from Zack and Joe was top notch. They came. Gave a quote Tommy. Just what we needed to fix our low water pressure and our hard water situation came installed. Everything looks beautiful back up. We are back up and running great company. I would recommend them to anyone they have to both be two of the most honest people I have dealt with so far in my home repairs"

"I recently had the pleasure of working with CT Radon and Well Water Solutions, and I can't recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, they demonstrated professionalism that truly stands out. The team was timely, arriving exactly when they said they would, and they wasted no time in getting to work. Kevin, in particular, was fantastic. His great personality made the entire process not only efficient but also enjoyable. He took the time to explain everything clearly and answered all of my questions with patience and expertise. The work they completed exceeded my expectations, providing me with peace of mind regarding radon levels and well water quality. If you're in need of radon mitigation or well water solutions, look no further than CT Radon. They are a reliable choice that I would recommend to anyone in need of their services. Thank you again, Matt, for all your hard work!"

"It was 5:30 on a Monday morning I got up to get ready for work, I turned on the faucet and all I got was a sucking sound. No water! Eric from Mosman Wellworks responded to my request on HomeAdvisor by around 6:30. He said he would have someone at my house by around 8:30 and sure enough the technician was at my home by 8:30. He ran tests and checked the system and diagnosed it as the pressure switch and made some additional recommendations and had us up and running in no time. They were prompt, knowledgeable and courteous and very fair priced. I would use them again and I would recommend them."

"We were given a complete picture of our basement issues and we relieved that we don't immediately have to do remediation but could deal with the moisture and mold spores by purchasing a more powerful dehumidifier and unit to deal with the spores although we will have to deal with where the water is coming in during heavy rain."

"Justin called be back very quickly. He listened to my problem and said he would take a look. He was at my house an hour later. He was very meticulous in tracking down the problem which ended up being easier on the pocket book then I thought it was going to be. Justin is what every home owner wants in a tech, easy to talk to, he listens and he is very good at his profession. My well pipe has been there since 1988. The cap on the pipe was not a bug proof cap when they installed it. The company that changed out the well pump in 2018 never mentioned it. Justin saw the bugs, recommended a bug proof cap and I agreed. Bottom line he did everything a professional would do. I highly recommend Advanced Well & Home Solutions."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

It’s not a good idea to oversize your water softener. Doing so will mean the tank doesn’t get full, which can lead to channeling. This leads to a large portion of the resin beads not being utilized and the beads at the bottom of the tank being overused. Over time, this will reduce the efficiency of your system, not to mention that the upfront cost of an oversized softener is unnecessarily high. If you have a timed regeneration cycle rather than a demand-based one, you’ll also spend far more on replacing salt than you need to.

Yes. To get soft water, you can install a water softening system, which will replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with sodium or potassium ions. Water softeners cost anywhere from $200 to $6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the system. You can either install a water softener for the whole house or just at your shower heads. If you’re sensitive to sodium or potassium, you can install a salt-free water conditioner.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.
