"My name is Matt Bednarz and I am the owner of CT Radon and Well Water Solutions. I?ve been in the radon mitigation business since 1988. I?m a Certified Radon Mitigation specialist as is my General Manager Kevin Bednarz (26 years experience) and my rep Tom (20 years) who originally did the site assessment. I am responding to correct the inaccuracy of this review posted by the listing real estate agent. We do in fact guarantee radon reductions <4.0 pci/l (the EPA Action Level) - not 2.0 as the Realtor noted, even though much of the work we do goes below 2pci/l, if not 1pci/l. Any experienced mitigator has a stipulation in their guarantee about water under the slab, and how it can impede the effectiveness of the system. This is line#1 in our guarantee page under "Limitations". The Realtor never questioned this aspect of the guarantee while knowing the house is in a flood zone. The review fails to mention the slab is 32? thick?8x the typical slab thickness we encounter on a daily basis with our installs. In all our combined years of experience, we?ve never seen this. The review fails to mention that we were - & still are, willing to drill the suction point after having spent $580 on new equipment to penetrate the 32" thickness. After learning the house is in a flood zone ( yesterday, which was our third trip to the home); we warned we could not be responsible if water came gushing up through the hole. It is at this point that we suggested that an alternative system be considered that doesn't require slab penetrations. We were subsequently sent away by the owner without doing anything?even though we were willing to install the 3" suction point completely through the slab utilizing the newly purchased equipment. The small holes are at the bottom of the current 3" suction hole that is about 16" deep. These were from the initial install when we discovered the slab was 32" thick, and couldn't drill all the way through with our existing 3" equipment. The four 1/2" holes at the bottom of the 3" hole was all we could do at that point considering the circumstances. As previously noted; It wasn?t until yesterday that we were informed the home is in a flood zone (not by the Realtor) and that extraordinary measures were taken by the builder to prevent water entry into the basement by pouring an excessively thick slab. This is a critical detail that should?ve been disclosed to us by the Realtor knowing that we had proposed a sub slab suction system requiring holes to be drilled through the slab. By his own admission in the review; he knew the house was in a flood zone. There was no lack of due diligence on our behalf, but rather a failure to disclose a pertinent piece of information regarding the condition of the home on behalf of the Realtor. There is nothing faulty with our install and despite this misleading review, we are still willing to return at no cost (just like the two other trips after the initial install), To drill the 3" suction point all the way through the slab. Longevity in this business (37 years) isn?t achieved by short changing customers. It?s unfortunate this Realtor would omit critical factors in his review in an attempt to sully our family business reputation. We're a tight knit crew, and pride ourselves on delivering the very best mitigation services in the state."
