Small jobs welcome

"Alex and his team were absolutely fantastic! This was the second time I used them in the past year and they did not disappoint. I hired them to remove stone veneer around my foundation that was falling off due to poor workmanship from a prior contractor and then install new stone, as well as install bluestone on my front stoop. They were extremely professional and meticulous in completing the work. Their daily positive attitudes, attention to detail and cleanliness made them a pleasure to have around our home. They were always punctual, respectful and friendly, which goes a long way in enhancing the experience. Alex was adamant about providing the best service possible, and was never once rude or off-putting when I had questions. I can not say enough good things about him or his team. We will absolutely be using him to build a staircase/walkway from our the side of our home to our back patio. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience!"

"I hired US Home Improvements LLC to replace two sets of stairs and walkways. I chose Mondy based on his large number of positive reviews and the interactions I had with him from the first phone call onward. Mondy does what he says heâ s going to do, when he says heâ s going to do it, and for how much he says heâ s going to do it for. On top of that the work is excellent. What more could you ask for? I really appreciated that once he started the project he was there every day until it was done. He did the project in five days. If I need more masonry work in the future US Home Improvements LLC doing it."

"Rafael and his guys are true professionals and did an amazing job! Arrived bright and early each day and ready to work! Explained what he was going to do each day and gave his professional opinion on the job which I'm happy i agreed with. He and his guys are very pleasant and cleaned up very well at the end of each day. The end product is top notch! All of my neighbors have since booked him to do their yards. Thank you, Rafael, RR Paving and Masonry. Can't wait to hang out in my new beautiful patio!"

"This is the second time we have used Silo paving. Each time we received excellent customer service from Claudia and, most important, excellent work from Chris and his crews. Our driveway was prepared well, the cracks were filled and the coatings have given our driveway extra life. We fully recommend this company!"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Whether you decide to DIY paver installation or want to hire a pro, it’s smart to understand the process. First, you’ll need to prepare the area by clearing away grass and dirt. Next, you’ll add the paver base of gravel and sand before laying the pavers on top. You may need to cut pavers to fit your space or the landscaping design and add edging stones.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

While paving a driveway is possible to do as a DIY project, we don’t recommend it. Hiring a driveway professional to pave it will ensure that your driveway looks neat and clean and lasts for years to come, and it will also prevent a weak driveway and, potentially, damage to your foundation. Paving a driveway requires heavy machinery, and while you can rent the equipment needed, operating it close to your garage slab or around your home’s foundation can crack it and lead to structural issues.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

Installing a walkway to your home can add value, as it can make your landscaping look more intentionally designed and boost your overall curb appeal. In addition, walkways can be installed with accessibility in mind, which can be helpful for those with mobility issues or who need a wheelchair.
