"Cecy handled a full renovation of our new home, including three new bathrooms, a finished basement, a new office space, and a wide range of additional improvements. She brought strong ideas to the table and connected us with skilled professionals throughout the process. She collaborated smoothly with our architect and interior designer, which made the entire project run far more efficiently. Her crew was courteous, friendly, and consistently helpful. They kept the workspace clean and showed real attention to detail in everything they did. Cecy was responsive to any concern that came up, and when we hit roadblocks, she quickly found practical workarounds to keep things moving. I highly recommend her and look forward to working with her again on future projects."

"The carpenter that did the job (Adam) was amazing. He had to expand the space for one window, narrow the space for another, and repair much cedar siding that had rotted away due to water damage. He also reshaped my patio door so it would close and lock more easily. He is a very talented carpenter and I have no qualms about highly recommending him."

"I hired Deb to put together creative design ideas to renovate both my front entry living room and home office. Both rooms turned out fantastic. What a transformation. She also introduced me to an excellent contractor who I hired to do the improvements. Overall very pleased with outcome. Deb helped us transform our drabby front entrance to a coastal retreat. Our home office is now open, light and organized!"

"Victoria is amazing. My project was an immediate one with a small window of opportunity, and Victoria responded and was available exactly when I needed her. She worked long days with me to help my sister move into a 3 room senior living apartment. She managed to turn a jumble of beloved furnishings into a real home that was inviting, comfortable, and completely comforting in its familiarity. Her eye for space and utility is excellent, she listens carefully and is wonderfully sensitive to the client. She is gentle with her suggestions, always making sure that the client actually likes where things are placed and how they look. Victoria continues to work with us to place artwork and other items that will go on the walls, and then she will help finish the space with suggestions on curtains and bedding. She is also sensitive to price, and offers a range of solutions. I cannot recommend Victoria highly enough."

"Carlos and Luis, along with a few day workers, did a great job installing my new roof. They replaced and added copper as needed. They were professional and easy to deal with. I feel that their price was VERY competitive. Looking forward to utilizing their skills on other projects! E.Bednarz"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Professionals often use extra materials that aren’t included in traditional tree decorations, like pins and more expensive wired ribbon that can be carefully shaped. But even without these elements, you can improve your decorating by taking a few professional cues.

Always start by picking an overall theme, including colors, types of ornaments, and the overall feeling or message you want to create. Fluff your tree to its fullest potential, and include a generous amount of garlands, lights, ornaments, and bows to complete the look. Professional trees tend to be very “full” and well-balanced, with only a couple of ornament types to help the decorations flow.

Deciding to hire an interior designer or an interior decorator is entirely dependent on what you’re looking for out of your project and your budget. Interior decorators typically cost less than interior designers, both in hourly rates and overall project costs.

If you want to add furnishings to your home but it’s otherwise set with permanent fixtures, an interior decorator would be best for you. However, if you are looking to remodel your home or are building a new home and would like help with permanent structures like cabinets, showers, and overall layouts, an interior designer is best.

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.

Decorators often prefer artificial Christmas trees. They’re easier to handle and shape, and decorators don’t have to worry about bugs or allergies. It’s also an ideal choice because artificial trees keep up appearances without owners needing to schedule watering.

However, always confirm that decorators are ready to unbox and set up the artificial tree. If they don’t include tree set-up in their services, you may need to hire a general handyperson for that task.

Establishing a whole-house color palette gives your home a sense of uniformity and makes your interior look more visually appealing. Overdoing a single color can make your home feel monotonous, while too many colors can create a sense of chaos and disorganization. When in doubt, choose a foundation color and then use complementary colors to accent.
