"the insulation they recommended saved me about 5000kw a year. the amount of money i am saving is far more the insulation payment on my Eversource bill. No money cost to me out of pocket and my electric bill dropped quite a bit. best move i ever did."

"We needed an installation installer quickly because we had to rip out existing insulation for electrical work to be done. It was February and getting very cold in the house. Robb came right over to give us an estimate. Greystone came in just four days later and completed the job. The installers, Anthony and Carlos, were excellent, very courteous. They did a very thorough job and did not stop working the whole time they were at the house. Thank you!"

"Charles and his crew did an awesome job. They were prompt and professional. They cleaned up and took the time to explain everything they did and why. Their knowledge of R values and how to properly insulate for best results is second to none. Top Notch installed both blown in insulation and rolled in insulation in my attic. Part of my attic had exposed floor joists. They build a walkway so I could easily access the unfinished portion of my attic. They offered advise and guidance for additional projects. They were flexible with my schedule and were able to squeeze me in so my other projects would not fall behind. Charles and his team sincerely have the customers best interest at heart and genuinely care about the quality of work they do. I had a pleasurable experience working with the Top Notch Team and would highly recommend them. Thank you Charles for all your hard work and I look forward to working with you again. Sincerely Amanda"

"I've used Wesson Energy for a few years now as a member of the Connecticut Energy Cooperative. The prices are great and the service is responsive and professional.
In September, I noticed that the gauge on my heating oil tank showed that I was a quarter of a tank low. A few days later I received a notice of delivery from Wesson billing me for approximately 175 gallons of oil (about half a tank). I called to ask why, if I was only a quarter of a tank down, I would have needed so much oil.
Wesson sent out a technician to look at the problem. As it turned out, the gauge was wrong (they acquire a later of silt over time that weighs down the floater). Apparently l had looked at the gauge just after the delivery and the tank wasn't registering as full.
Throughout the course of several phone calls to resolve this problem, representatives for Wesson were courteous and professional.
P.S. Wesson definitely fixed the problem; the old gauge remained on the tank so I was able to compare the readings on the new and old gauges. The old gauge consistently registers a quarter-tank lower.

"They're actually a sister company to Wesson Energy which is located in Waterbury. Their service has always been very responsive. I've had a couple of occasions where I got dangerously close to empty and they were very responsive about coming out, getting it taking care of, and filling the tanks up. All and all I've had a good experience with them. This coming winter will be my second winter season with them and so far they've been very good. I pre-buy in bulk and it tends to have an affect on the price because propane is priced differently. The more you use and the more applications you have for it the cheaper the price gets. It's not like it is with heating oil because that's priced per gallon no matter what and propane tends to be a little different. They're price is competitive, but a lot of that is market driven and it's really hard for them to really adjust too much. It's not like they have a great deal of control over it. The quality is fine."

"We hired Next Level Building to renovate our bathroom and to make it more mobility-challenged friendly and to be prepared for a wheelchair. From the very start William listened very carefully to what we were looking for and made a couple of great suggestions which included enlarging the bathroom by taking over dead space in the hallway. This was a wonderful idea because it added space for a wheelchair to maneuver in and worked out beautifully. Throughout the project William checked in to be sure we knew what was happening, what was going to happen next and to see if there were questions or concerns. William and his crew went out of their way to insure in the middle of the project that the bathroom was very usable when a houseful of family arrived to spend the weekend. Speaking of the crew, they were all extremely professional, polite, and not only skilled at their jobs but took pride in doing the job the right way and cleaned up every night before leaving. I would definitely recommend them and I am already looking at another project with them."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The most obvious con of injection foam is the cost. It’s much more expensive to install than fiberglass or spray foam, but it may be your only option (unless you want to remove entire walls around the home). Another con is that it involves drilling into existing material, which has to be repaired after the foam is injected. Some injection foams are made from products that aren’t environmentally friendly, and improper installation can lead to trapped moisture, which can lead to expensive mold remediation down the road.

If the temperature outside is around 90 or 100 degrees with the sun beating on your home’s roof, it’s common for the attic temperature to reach 150 degrees or more. This excessive heat shows the importance of having a radiant barrier in place along with insulation. The radiant barrier reflects the heat entering the attic back upward, keeping your home’s temperature more consistent.

The best type of insulation for your home depends on your specific needs, climate, and the area you are insulating. For new construction, structural insulated panels are a highly energy-efficient option that is easy to install during the building process. In very warm climates, reflective insulation can be a cost-effective choice. For cold climates, fiberglass is an excellent option due to its high R-value and resistance to settling over time. Spray foam works well in humid environments because of its moisture-resistant properties. For standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation are all suitable options.

Modern windows provide enhanced UV protection, improved heat retention, and cooling efficiency, contributing to overall household energy savings.

Yes, insulating ductwork in a crawl space is a worthwhile investment, especially if you live in a colder climate or run your air conditioning for most of the year. Uninsulated ducts can lose up to 30% of their heating and cooling efficiency, which can significantly impact your electricity bill. The project is a relatively small investment and typically only takes a few hours. It's a particularly simple add-on if you are already hiring someone to insulate the entire crawl space. An added benefit is that insulated ducts put off less hot or cold air, making them less attractive to pests.
