"DeAngels Concrete and Repair widened our driveway, poured a sidewalk from the front gate to our back yard and replaced our cracked patio. They also poured a retaining wall in my front yard. All in all it has been a great experience and is a work of art. I consider Dave the owner as a concrete artist whom helps with ideas, designs, color choices, patterns and problem solving for your concrete project. Other concrete representatives said “what do you want?” and seemed eager to leave a cookie cutter rectangle patio. Dave on the other hand, asked “what are you thinking.” He listened to us and then offered his own ideas and addressed any concerns we had. Speaking with Dave felt like being part of a team working to meet our concrete needs. In the end, we are happy we chose DeAngels Concrete and Landscaping. We will definitely be return customers."

"Several years ago we replaced our upstairs bathroom flooring....using a friend. We realize he didn't know what he was doing when he put the toilet back in. Years later we have ugly mold/fungus on our downstairs ceiling and between the floors. I saw a referral here, on Nextdoor, to use Shawn Turano of PROPERTY RESTORATION SOLUTIONS. Great referral! He really knows how to handle dangerous molds, utilizing HEPA requirements, etc. He gave us a reasonable bid, adhered to it, did an outstanding job and solved our problem. If you need property/disaster restoration from a flood, fire, smoke, mold, or general contracting needs, I can honestly refer Shawn. Here is his number: 719-650-5895."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

If you've decided you'd like to skip the cost of restoring a brick exterior wall after considering whether you should repair or replace brick on your house, you can consider installing fiber cement siding over brick for a cost of $2 to $6 per square foot. When done properly, cement siding over brick offers a durable, low-maintenance option that can actually reduce your home's energy costs. It's also attractive. However, improper installation or installation over heavily compromised brick can cause water damage.

The longevity of flood walls depends on how they were constructed, but most wood, gravel, and cement flood walls last 10 years. While aluminum flood walls may cost far more initially, they can be a good investment as they can last decades and will not be damaged by exposure to the elements.

Poured concrete is often the cheapest material for a retaining wall, costing around $6 to $8 per square foot. Other budget-friendly options include vinyl and landscaping timbers, which range from $10 to $15 per square foot; landscaping timbers are particularly well-suited for DIY projects. Untreated timber and railroad ties are a step up in price, starting at $15 to $25 per square foot. Natural stones can also be a cost-effective choice if you can source them from your own property, but they can be expensive to purchase. High-end materials like steel are typically the most expensive but offer superior durability and aesthetics.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.
