"There h was in time and did a great job installing luxury vinyl tiles in two baths and the laundry room. Looks great except there is a gap between the floor and molding. Not sure how to fix that in case we have a water issue all over the floor reaching the edges."

"They were on time, kept the place clean and were very responsive to our concerns. There were a couple of steps that were a bit tricky to build, but they spent extra time to make sure they came out great. There was a little miscommunication on the requirements for flush mount heating vents but they worked with us to come to a fair resolution. I would definitely use ProWorks again."

"Brian Oblas of Henderson Construction arrived a few minutes early, spent over an hour on the job. He did an excellent job re-installing and re-grouting the tiles and charged me an unbelievably reasonable amount (< $40 total). I would definitely contact this company for future jobs."

"What an amazing experience! Charles is a true professional. He is extremely detail oriented and helped guide us with different bathroom design options. His tile work is impeccable, he is a true master. We discussed pricing up front and it was very reasonable for the amount of work done. Our new bathrooms look like they belong in a design magazine!"

"I recently hired The Russian for a complete bathroom renovation, and I must say, I am extremely impressed with his work! He single-handedly transformed my entire bathroom into a beautiful and functional space. From start to finish, The Russian exhibited serious attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship. His tile work is absolutely amazing. He meticulously laid each tile, ensuring precise alignment and creating a stunning pattern that adds a touch of elegance to the room. The Russian's suggestions for my vanity was much more functional than my idea, I'm so happy he helped! Not only did The Russian excel in the aesthetic aspects of the renovation, but he also handled all the plumbing issues that arose. I'm so thankful for him because not all contractors would have been able to help with this as well. His dedication to perfection is evident in the final result. Throughout the entire renovation process, The Russian maintained excellent communication. He listened attentively to my ideas and preferences, providing valuable input and suggestions. I highly recommend The Russian for any home improvement projects and will definitely be reaching out to him for future renovations!!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

It’s best to install a shower door after the bathroom tile is in place to ensure you have accurate measurements. If you try installing a shower door first, the tile might be too thick to install afterward, or the tile will be too thin and create a gap between the shower doors that allows water to leak. With the tile in place first, you’ll know the exact shower door size that you need.

Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

Tile installation can be expensive because it requires more time and labor to install than many other materials. For example, laminate flooring can click and lock into place, and carpet comes in large rolls that you can secure to the floor. On the other hand, tiles need to be cut, laid individually, grouted, and left to cure.
