"David from Supreme Builders was the first person to respond from all the contractors I contacted. I needed a new solid door and frame within a small wall stud installed in an opening to my basement. He visited my house within a day to give me a quote and once the door was available from his supplier, he did the installation on the date we agreed on at exactly the price quoted. I am very happy with the quality of the work and would recommend Supreme Builders to anybody."

"I don’t normally do reviews, either good or bad, but I feel compelled to do a review for Jason and Amy. The reason is that they did such a great job in the repainting of our trim in our 27 year old home. They were meticulous during the job, not only in the painting, but also in preparing and protecting our home. You would never regret having this couple do any painting for you."

Customers say: True professional

"Hayden is one of the best men I’ve had to come to my house for repairs. He is very reliable, and he doesn’t leave until the job is done right, even after working all day he still found the time to stop by my house so I would have a working sink for the holidays, and same goes for when I needed help with my furnace, after working all day he didn’t want us to be without heat, and he replaced my door for me I can’t say enough about how reliable and efficient he is his work is a 10 out of 10 hands and I would recommend him to anyone!"

"I'm 63! These are the best contractors i have ever hired. I needed a failing support replaced on a deck. I had a number of bids.. These guys took their time to explain the repairs and make recommendations. They took their time to answer questions. They found issues and explained 'how' I could do additional repairs myself, if desired. They performed the repairs I wanted at Mach speed. They even made repairs on items they noticed - 'no charge'. Now ... the biggest issue! While explaining one of the changes they wanted to make, they had me look at my neighbor's deck as an example. While doing that they noted a structural defect. I explained that the property was owned by an 80+ year old widow. Their response: "I have some spare stuff with me; if I just knock on her door, do you think she would let me fix it for free? It's a safety issue and I wouldn't want her to get hurt." They did quality work. They were exceptionally reasonable priced. I highly recommend them!"

"Highly recommend DISO Design & Build! I brought them a rough sketch of a custom deck I wanted, and they turned it into a reality. They provided a very detailed design, clear proposal, and a line-by-line material list with exact costs, so there were no surprises. Once the materials were ready and delivered, they built the entire deck in less than two weeks. I was so impressed with their professionalism and speed that I?ve already hired them for another project?they are currently remodeling my daughter?s kitchen!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.

Barns and barndominiums are most commonly painted red, like barns depicted in movies and paintings. The practice of painting barns red dates back to America’s colonial days, when new farmers would borrow the European practice of mixing linseed oil with ferrous oxide to coat the barns in order to protect them from the elements, leaving the structures with a red color.

It is almost always more affordable to buy an existing home than to build a new one. Building a home involves numerous costs, including labor, permits, inspections, utility hookups, and brand-new materials, finishes, and appliances. Additionally, new construction loans can have higher interest rates than traditional mortgages, and property taxes on new homes are often higher, increasing long-term costs. An exception is a DIY house build, which can be cheaper than buying an existing home if you do the labor yourself. While building is generally more expensive, a new custom home offers complete control over the layout and design. Furthermore, new construction is typically worth more than a comparable pre-owned home and may provide a better return on investment if sold quickly.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.
