"Andrea is a wealth of knowledge! She was a consummate professional, excellent listener, and understood our needs from the word "go". Her expertise in town permits, construction and drafting, as well as her knowledge of structural engineers, is the only reason we were able to get our project moving. I wish I had known Andrea and her company, Trio Construction, months ago - but at least I do now and you can bet we will recommend them to everyone and anyone who is willing to listen. All of our concerns were heard and addressed, and if we needed to wait on some information or to get new numbers, it was well worth the wait. This is a TOP TIER company. (AI / CHAT gpt was not used to write this review, I am a real customer.)"

"It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Unison Builds LLC. Chris and his team handled the complete interior and exterior renovation of our 7,500 square feet office building. Their work included adding seven new offices, a gorgeous marble kitchen and dining room, a wonderful reception area, an executive conference room with a 14-foot table, the CEO's new office, and nearly everything else. He is a reliable builder. His team takes great pride in what they do. And the work proceeded even faster than we expected."

"Mike Fowler was very attentive and got the job done in the promised time frame. As much as a kitchen remodel can be frustrating since it is the hub of the home, there were no additional problems. They did a great job. Highly recommend."

"We had Elevated Contracting build a deck and pergola for our new bluestone patio and pool. It came out more beautifully than we could have imagined! The owner, Drew, was prompt and professional from the beginning to end of the project. We were most impressed with his communication with us as the project progressed answering any questions we had. He made the whole process seamless. We are loving our outdoor space. Thank you Drew!"

"My cement front porch was sinking and crooked. Because the porch had sunk, the porch post had detached from the porch ceiling, so I was wedging it to prevent it from falling over. I also had a cracked driveway and needed a piece of house siding near the porch replaced because it had dried cement on it. I received estimates from several contractors listed on the HomeAdvisor website. The contractors I spoke with said they could not fix or replace my porch post nor replace the house siding piece, and some of them provided written cost estimates without itemizing the work they would perform. I was relieved to learn upon meeting with Jason of S & R Eagle Services that this company was capable of fully completing my project. I do not regret my decision to hire S & R Eagle Services. This company performed honest, professional work. The workers were skilled and cleaned up daily. My porch and driveway look beautiful now, and my porch post and siding piece have been replaced and painted to match my home. GOOD COMPANY"

"I had an outdoor kitchen built in my backyard, and the work was excellent from start to finish. The person who worked on it was very professional, hardworking, and paid close attention to every detail. They made sure everything looked perfect and worked exactly how I wanted. The outdoor kitchen turned out beautiful and really upgraded my backyard space. I truly appreciate the quality of their work and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build or improve their outdoor area. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"Prime Form managed my town home remodel (new flooring, kitchen remodel, bath remodel, electrical updates, painting/staining). Their customer service and time management were exceptional! They set realistic expectations on timeline and helped me choose the design that fit right with the space and my style. I will definitely hire them for future home projects and would recommend to anyone needing project management and contracting services."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

Building a treehouse can vary in difficulty depending on factors such as design complexity, size, and the builder’s woodworking experience. Basic treehouses with simple designs can be manageable for DIYers with some carpentry skills, while more elaborate structures may pose challenges. Adequate planning, research, and careful execution can make the process more manageable, and resources like premade plans or professional assistance are always available for additional support.

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.
