Small jobs welcome

"They needed to jackhammer through my basement concrete floor to remove and replace two feet of pipe. This was done after "camera locating" the problem and its precise location. They completed all work PERFECTLY within two days. These guys are the absolute BEST. I had a long career in the Hotel Industry and so I know all about plumbers. None of the ones I ever worked with over many years compared to Joe and Marco. It's not even close."

"I called Hyper Flow at around 7:30am, and James, their VERY helpful tech, was at our house by about 9:15. He promptly identified the problem (which was a smaller issue than we had feared) and got it resolved very promptly. He did NOT try to upsell us on anything, but we requested that he run a camera through our pipes to see if there was anything further to be concerned about. Fortunately, there was not, and he walked me through the video and showed us that our lines are in pretty good shape. Terrific service. We will definitely use these guys again."

"Cyrus was able to help me right away when I called him at 6pm on a Tuesday evening. He charged more than other companies quoted, but he was the only one who was willing to come after hours, and with a blocked sewer main, that was the most important thing. Very grateful for this company."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Water can seep into porous materials like wood beams, floor joists, and roof rafters within minutes, but they’ll need to see prolonged exposure before you have structural damage. Mold can start growing within 24 hours, and mold can eat away at the structural components over time. Wood rot is more of a concern, though. Wet and dry rot are fungal infections that set in in moist conditions and rapidly deteriorate wood, causing major structural damage within just a few months in some cases.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.

Yes, it is generally unhealthy and can be dangerous to live in a damp basement. The damp air can negatively affect your breathing and lungs, and the moisture promotes mold growth and pest infestations. Inhaling mold spores or waste particles from insects and rodents attracted to the moisture can be hazardous. This damp, moldy air can also circulate into your main living area. It is crucial to resolve any moisture problems and implement preventative measures before using your basement as a living space.

When doing any type of project involving mold, it's important to wear the right protective gear. You'll want an N-95 or KN-95 mask to keep yourself from inhaling mold spores, which can be irritating or trigger an allergic reaction in people with weakened immune systems. You'll also want to wear protective eyewear and gloves to limit your contact with mold.

If your basement often leaks after heavy rain, it’s probably caused by hydrostatic pressure. When the ground is saturated with water, it can put pressure on the exterior of your home’s foundation, causing cracks in the basement wall and pushing water through any existing weak spots. Over time, hydrostatic pressure can cause structural damage to your home.
