"Sebastian is the best, he came out for a quote, very punctual, professional and asked us alot of questions about what we needed/wanted, he's very knowledgeable so gave us options. He came back with his helper and they installed a new electrical panel & a sub-panel that we requested. Only took one day, great communication, professional, best quote we got at $ 6000.00 Would definitely recommend."

"Great experience. Quick to respond with a quote, very reasonable price, complete and professional service. The three men were very courteous and respectful. They finished in the expected time and left all the work areas very clean. Their offered service was more complete than the other electrical companies we considered; they installed some fixtures that some other highly rated electrical companies declined to handle."

"Red Fox Electric provided professional and prompt service. They provided superior customer service and was able to move our service work up on their schedule. Very knowledgeable and provided an excellent replacement to my electrical panel and added a whole-house surge protector as well. Highly recommend this company for any electrical service needs."

"The problem was that the dishwasher/garbage disposal outlet suddenly couldn't carry the load for both appliances, although there was no tripping on the circuit board (Continental Homes cut lots of corners on our development in SE Aurora). We thought that the Kenmore Elite dishwasher circuit board quit and needed to be replaced with a more reliable $1000 Bosch dishwasher. However, Robert came to our rescue. Although it was a perplexing electrical problem, he thoroughly performed a series of diagnostic tests, isolated the problem, and came up with a practical solution that was safe, practical and reassuring for $136.80. Robert knows his stuff, and I was impressed when he communicated his findings and solution. He left us with PEACE OF MIND and SAVINGS! This was a very professional encounter, such that I would definitely recommend Mightybee Electic with confidence. In addition, the appointment was scheduled 5 hours after I made the call. That's what I call service!"

"ELI was wonderful! He arrived on time, was friendly, thorough and quick. What really impressed me was ELI'S attention to the little details--he made sure no water, garbage got loose under the counter, used a mat to protect my floor/inside counter, cleaned up everything--even my sink--when he was done and, finally, put everything back under the counter where it was before he came! Above and beyond customer service! I will recommend AAA who anyone who needs drains unplugged! Also I like the company and especially the SERVICE so much, I'm meeting with a tech for another job--electrical this time. THANK YOU, ELI for your time, service and patience with my speech! much appreciated!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can connect two extra outlets (or more) to one outlet if the total load on the circuit allows for it. If you have a 15-amp circuit, electrical code allows up to eight outlets or light switches. But if you’re dealing with outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, you may not be able to have as many. Kitchen and bathroom appliances often need higher amperage. You can also change a single outlet to a double outlet by cutting a larger hole in the drywall and replacing the outlet with a quad receptacle.

Yes, blue wires can be hot wires in the U.S. However, they are less common in residential properties than red and black hot wires. Blue wires are typically used as traveler wires in three-way and four-way switches, as well as ceiling fans. They allow fixtures to be controlled by multiple switches, like when there are switches at the top and bottom of a staircase for the same light.

According to the National Electrical Code® (NEC®), the electrical code for kitchen outlets states that electrical outlets in a kitchen should be installed no more than 48 inches apart. This ensures that a receptacle is no further away than 24 inches from any place on the countertop. Countertops wider than 12 inches need an outlet on the wall above the countertop.

To upgrade electrical systems in older homes, you might need to reroute new wires with lath and plaster walls. That’s because it’s more challenging to get inside the walls of an older home compared to a modern home, which usually uses drywall. But there are easier ways to level up your electrical game in an older home. For instance, you can swap out an old furnace for a new electric heat pump, or you could use a heat pump for water heating.

The most common type of electrical outlet is a 3-prong outlet, which has two flat blades (one is wider than the other) and a round grounding pin. Older homes typically have 2-prong outlets that aren’t as safe as more modern options and are generally not up to current electrical codes.  Other outlets you can find in your home include 20A, 125 volt varieties for larger appliances like refrigerators or washing machines.

There are also GFCI outlets, which protect against electrical shock in wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, and arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) outlets, which protect against electrical fires caused by arcing.
