"Valentin did an amazing job replacing the bathtub faucet in one of our rental properties. He was also able to diagnose a pinhole leak in an old pipe and quickly fixed the issue. The bill was quite reasonable and I was happy to pay for peace of mind in knowing the job was done right. I work in construction as well and Valentin is the person I will refer my clients to."

"My old water heater went out yesterday and of course leaked water all over. I shut it off and stopped the leaking. Called early this morning looking for someone to install a new one. Jim was actually sent over by another plumber who could not get to my job right away. Jim showed up, looked at the job, we talked about the options and he gave me a bid. Let to get the new water heater. We back in about thirty minutes. He had to make some changes to the water and gas lines. Added shut offs and installed new one. Took the time to explain operation and maintenance of the new one. Cleaned up the work site. Removed all debris and old water heater. I was impressed with his work and his attitude.

"Joe from JMS Drain Services was my service technician who arrived well within the window scheduled service time. Joe came in, inspected the sink to determine how to resolve my issue, took out the tool (snake apparatus) to clear the sink, and departed my premises within 15 minutes. I was pleased he resolved my clogged sink so quickly so I could rest after a night's work. Thank you again, Joe."

"We received three competitive quotes and the JVI price was very reasonable. The quality of the work was excellent. There were a couple minor issues with a couple of the tiles and JVI addressed those immediately with no problem and no discussion of any additional cost. Dominic Valenti made the initial site visit, provided the pricing, and managed the overall work. He was very responsive and did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he would do it, and promptly returned calls. He was very helpful in answering all of my questions, and as an engineer, I tend to pay more attention to the details than the average person. JVI showed up exactly when needed in order for their work to properly coordinate with the other sub-contractors, and when the schedule changed, JVI was able to make the adjustment. I acted as the general contractor, so I coordinated the overall scheduling of the remodel work and worked directly with JVI on scheduling the tile work. The actual work was performed by Carlos, who was very professional, prompt, courteous, conscientious, and thorough. We were very happy with the finished product and it has held up well with no problems to date. Natural stone, especially a softer stone like travertine, takes a higher level of care than porcelain tile, and JVI provided that extra care to insure a quality finished product. We would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others looking for a tile installer."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

The best material to use will depend on your budget and style goals. Fireclay is a great choice but is expensive and heavy. Stainless steel is less expensive and more durable, but lacks the wow factor a clay sink might. Copper is very expensive but lasts a long time and has a striking appearance. Those looking for an industrial look can go with concrete, or those looking for a classic design might choose porcelain.

The time it takes to install a sink depends on whether you hire a professional or do it yourself, as well as the complexity of the job. A professional plumber can typically install a sink in 1 to 4 hours, with most routine jobs taking around 1 to 2 hours. However, more complicated installations will take longer. Projects that involve rerouting plumbing, installing an under-mount sink, or making countertop modifications can take a full day. Installing a sink with a prefab vanity could also stretch the project to 6 to 8 hours. If you plan to install the sink yourself, you should set aside 4 to 6 hours, though it could take longer. It's also recommended to have a friend help, especially if you are working with a heavy sink made of a material like porcelain.

The standard kitchen sink size is typically 22 inches by 30 inches. However, kitchen sinks are available in a wide range of sizes to fit different kitchens, commonly from 25 to 39 inches long, though you can find even larger or custom sizes. When choosing a replacement, the easiest option is to select a sink that matches your existing one's dimensions. If you decide to install a larger sink, you will need to enlarge the cutout in your countertop; be sure to use the template that comes with the new sink to ensure a proper fit. Installing a smaller sink can be more complex, as it may require replacing the entire countertop.

A well-installed wall-mounted faucet shouldn’t splash. That’s why it’s worth hiring someone with experience installing wall-mounted faucets. Beyond the installation, you should carefully choose the right faucet and sink combination. If your sink splashes after installation, you can try installing an aerator, which lowers the amount of water coming out of the faucet.

When installing an undermount kitchen sink in a granite countertop, use 100% silicone to secure the basin. If you’re worried your sink is too heavy, speak with a countertop professional about how to adhere the sink to the countertop without worrying about issues down the road. Sagging undermount sinks can be a common plumbing problem if they’re not properly adhered, so always make sure you’re using a high-quality material.
