"We are delighted with the beautiful work El Pasko did for us. The final product is absolutely gorgeous and El is a delight to work with. He's extremely professional, timely, efficient and genuinely concerned about making his customer happy. Pasko's Artistic Carpentry was different than the other contractors we had bid on our project because he finished all the wood BEFORE installing it. Other contractors were going to install the wood first and then stain it in our home. El Pasko was able to avoid that disruption to our lives by staining and finishing the wood before installation. And, it turned out great! It's beautifully finished and perfectly installed. We couldn't be happier! Thanks to El Pasko!"

"We worked with Dylan on a number of house projects, beginning with a full bathroom remodel. We also had him hang new doors throughout the house and build/install a customer island in a tight kitchen. He has an eye for finish details that tend to be ignored, and we were extremely pleased with the finished products on the entire project."

"Highly recommend Shoeboot?s Carpentry! They did an amazing job working on my house. They were professional, on time, communicative, and paid attention to every detail. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations and everything was completed exactly how I wanted. It?s hard to find reliable people these days, and I?m really glad I hired them. I?ll definitely be using them again for future projects."

"I found Haka through a flyer in my mail. I spoke with Pete about what I wanted to do, timeline and budget. I gave him approximate measurements so he could give me an initial estimate. His estimate was similar to other estimates, but I chose him because of his portfolio of work and his great attitude. I got on his schedule about two months later, as I wasn't in a hurry. The deck took about a week and a half for construction. I decided to add the concrete aggregate slab about two weeks before they started building. The slab took about 3 days for the frame and pour. I can not say enough good things about Pete and his crew. Pete was always quick to respond to any questions and came by multiple times times during the build to ensure it was on point with my requirements. Pete took care of any issues and the work his crew did was phenomenal. I am a very meticulous person and the work they did was second to none. I can't recommend Pete and his crew enough."

Small jobs welcome

"Larry Emerson was very personable and accommodating. He did a great job installing rods and hanging my curtains! I’m so happy with how everything turned out. Bonus-he also hung a couple of heavy(er) candle sconces that have been sitting on my counter taking up space. I love them now! Thank you so much Larry!"

"When the crew came to my house and started the project they were working wide open for two days removing old siding gutters and trim. They installed new siding trim and gutters cleaned up everything. I would recommend this company to anybody who needs work on their home. Thank you again for your help with my project. FAQs for carpentry projects in Highlands Ranch, CO

The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.

Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.

While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:

  • How long have you been in the woodworking industry?

  • What experience do you have with my type of project?

  • Do you have customer references I can speak with?

  • How long do you expect my project to take?

  • What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?

  • Do you charge hourly or per project?

  • Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?

  • Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?

While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
