"Luke’s attention to precise details and strive towards perfection made my project go very smoothly and the end result is a work of art. He even replaced a few deck boards for me prior to staining the deck and only charged me for the cost of materials. Luke was professional and the service I paid for was worth a lot more then what he charged me for. Out of the 4 contractors that I took proposals from his was the best offer to complete the job and his work is second to none. I plan to hire him for all of my painting and staining needs. You need to see his before and after pictures that he has posted on his Facebook for yourselves!"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired FC&T to replace the deck planking and railings as well as staining the front of our cabin as well as the deck planking and railings. They showed up when they said they would and completed the work in a timely manner. I am very happy with the work they did and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We had a short time frame to get this completed and they finished on time. They were very conscientious in their work to ensure that everything was moved and/or covered while spraying the staining and ensuring that everything was dry before moving anything back."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Always wait until the morning dew has dried before you stain your deck. The stain needs a fully dry surface to sink into.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

Aftercare includes routine cleaning, checking for water repellency, and promptly addressing any chips or peels, maintaining the deck's appearance and functionality.
