"Bryan D helped me with my new house alarm. Bryan was friendly and pleasant to work with. He took his time and listened to my needs for my desired level of security. (I am quite the paranoid person when it comes to home security!) He is extremely knowledgeable and was informative and thorough on all aspects of security, from the system functionality to do-it-yourself enhancements around my home. He gave me a ton of great advice and I feel 110% at ease with my security system! I highly recommend you work with Bryan at Alarm protect group!!"

"James is extremely knowledgeable and listens well. The others I contacted seemed to constantly be in a selling mode. I didn't need to be sold. James listened and gave me what I asked for, plus he made suggestions on how things could be done better. He's a real Pro."

"We bought our condo in Vail with the intention of renting it out on VRBO when we weren't using it, so we needed two flatscreen TVs mounted in the bedrooms. We also wanted Craig to clean up the amazing tangle of wires that the prior occupants had left in the living room entertainment console. Craig did a very professional job and kept to his original quote, even though it turned out to take more time than he thought because of the technical challenges involved in running the wiring inside of our unit's walls (to install new power outlets hidden behind the new TV mounts on the walls). I would recommend Craig with no reservations."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Insurance companies weigh the amount of potential liabilities on your property to increase (or decrease) the cost of your home insurance. They will use several factors to decide if there are more chances for peril or injury to take place at your home. These factors include your location (whether you live in an area with high risk for natural disasters), the age and condition of your home, and whether you have any “attractive nuisances”—features that both increase the aesthetic of your home and potential for injury—like a pool or treehouse.

The cost of home automation averages around $1,000, with most projects falling between $200 and $2,000. The total cost depends on several factors, including the level of automation, brand, system features, home size, and location. For a DIY approach, basic home automation technology can cost between $100 and $500, though the scope and interaction between products may be limited. High-end, all-inclusive systems for larger homes can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $150,000, especially when they include smart appliances like refrigerators and dishwashers that require extensive wiring. Additional costs, such as subscriptions for maintenance services, can also impact the total price. It's often helpful to set a budget and consult with an expert to determine the best options for your home.

Some but not all security cameras have monthly fees, depending on the specific camera system and the services offered with it, especially monitored vs. unmonitored security systems. Home security companies that offer monitoring services along with cameras will charge a monthly fee for monitoring and possibly for using the security cameras. Cameras that you monitor yourself as part of your own security system will not have monthly fees charged.

Depending on your needs and wants, investing in a security door can be well worth the cost. Now that you know the pros and cons, you can decide if it’s a purchase that makes sense for your family. If you’re ready to have one installed in your home, look into security door installers in your area.

Yes, it’s possible a burglar can get through a deadbolt. Some types of deadbolts are harder for an intruder to get through, though. For example, a single-cylinder lock only requires breaking a window nearby and simply turning it. While other locks, such as a double-cylinder lock, may offer greater protection and make it harder for an intruder, no deadbolt is 100 percent effective.
