Customers say: True professional

"H&M did a superior job on all of the interior paint on our new home. They came in the day after closing and worked to get the job done even during the holidays and all for a very fair price! I canâ t say enough about the results, willingness to work around our schedules (we were coordinating multiple services at the same time so that we were ready on move in day), and the awesome customer service! Thanks you guys - we will see you this spring for exterior paint ð ð »ð !"

"We chose Painting Plus over 3 other companies that we obtained quotes from. Not only was the quote reasonable, but the timing, the professionalism, the package deals of services offered was what made us decide on hiring Painting Plus. The two/three people crew that did our massive garage work was so impressive. Derrick, the rep that came out to quote us was so so kind. The crew member that did the work was also just as kind. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication. Thank you! Highly recommend!"

"From start to finish, Foothills Painting did a great job. Tara started off by setting up the estimate. Wes did the estimate on a chilly and rainy day but took his time and was very helpful. The project manager, Paul, was very helpful and answered my questions throughly. Rachel helped verify my color selection, and Adam and Ed did a great job staining the fence. They were courteous, careful and considerate. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again. Thank you, Foothills Painting, for making this a very good experience."

"They looked at the project, and offered the service that was needed. Didn't over inflate the price and offered a needed value added service. Painted both the house and the fence that needed it."

"Corey and John did a great job painting my living room, including a vaulted ceiling. Before I found them I had a lot of trouble finding a company, as the big guys didn't want to touch it and some of the other smaller outfits didn't want to deal with the high ceiling. There were even a number of companies that didn't call me back. So if you have a project with some unique challenges or are having trouble finding a reliable painting company, give NoCo Pro Line a call. As for the painting itself, besides it looking great I want to point out a few things. The first is that they were very accommodating of my preferences and would make sure to ask before doing ("Do we paint the closet?", "Where do we tie off to the next room?", and so on). The second is that where there were problem areas (e.g. cracks, stains, etc.), they didn't just gloss over them but made sure to treat each one as necessary to give a nice final product. Lastly, they're willing to move furniture around and cover everything themselves. That takes a lot of burden off you as the homeowner (just be a good citizen and do what you can to prepare). Since I had so much trouble even getting a quote from other companies, I can't really compare value. What I can say is that originally I just intended the ceiling to be painted, but when I saw the price was reasonable I requested the whole room. TL;DR They crushed it."

"We needed a couple small jobs for painting and Tony was able to help us. He painted a hallway that had some serious chipping paint and painted our kitchen ceiling and walls. His quality of work was outstanding and price was just right. I would highly recommend Tony."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

Deciding whether to stain or paint a pool deck depends on your budget, desired look, and the deck's material. Both options can work. Paint offers a wider variety of color options, provides excellent water resistance, and can last longer. However, it requires a primer and can eventually fade or peel. Stain is often cheaper, easier to apply, and penetrates the wood for a more natural look and longer-lasting finish. It also has great water resistance. The downsides are fewer color options and the need for a sealant. The choice can also depend on the deck material; for example, staining may be a better option for concrete as it bonds well and lasts longer than paint.

DIY staining or painting is manageable with proper preparation, including safety measures, necessary tools, and adherence to safe weather conditions for application.

The plastic in composite decking boards protects them enough that you do not need to paint them to prevent warping. In fact, painting composite decking voids the warranty of some manufacturers. Painting can also increase maintenance on the deck, as you must paint regularly to keep it looking its best.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.
