"Terry and his son did a fabulous job, prepping the retaining walls for every garden unit on our 100 unit property. He then installed large concrete wallcaps to preserve the concrete-stucco walls while dramatically improving the appearance of our property. He worked with C&C Sand and Stone and the HOA to complete the job during rainy weather. His bid was competitive, and he came out a couple times to throughly assess the project. He had all the necessary credentials to successfully win our contract. Plus, heâ s a nice guy with good communication skills."

"I called the folks at A BROKEN WINDSHIELD and we scheduled a time for them to come and replace our cracked windshield. I had located this provided from the Angie's List catalog we receive each month. I was especially interested because they offered to waive the $100.00 deductible, which I really appreciated. They came at the appointed time, a bit late, but they assured me that the job would be done quickly and efficiently, allowing me to get to a doctor's appointment on time. I must admit, I had my doubts if this was possible, but boy, was I ever wrong. I was totally amazed that the entire process, removing the old glass and replacing it with a new windshield was done in less than 45 minutes. They did a beautiful job, left no mess at all, were polite, efficient, and lots of fun to talk to. I highly recommend these folks. I have used many Angie's List providers successfully, and this was no exception. Got a broken windshield? Call "A BROKEN WINDSHIELD" asap! You won't be sorry."

Small jobs welcome

"I asked for a custom piece of stained glass for my college team and Ed knocked it out of the park! He communicated with me every step of the way to make sure the design met my expectations. Due to living in another state, he had to ship the final product to me and made sure it was safe and secure. My piece made it across the country with no damage or issues at all. I highly recommend Edward and his excellent work! He can make anything!"

"My project was a fence repair and installation, including a gate and downspout because of a recent storm in Colorado Springs, They listened to all my concerns and requirements and made sure that they were addressed and met to my satisfaction, including the cleanup. They were quick to respond (within seconds) and promptly came for a site survey, then proceeded to get the job done in 2 days time, allowing for concrete drying. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend them for any projects, be it fence repair/install, landscaping, or just about anything you want done."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on the number of blocks and customization requirements.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.
