"A. P. took down a very large and dangerous ash tree branch. It was obvious to the arborist, Angel, that the branch would snap back on the cutter if not done properly. He safely brought it to the ground. We are so pleased with A. P.â s prompt and professional service, we hired them to remove a tree stump in the front yard. Weâ re very confident A. Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.

Generally, if your neighbor’s tree hangs over your yard, you can legally trim overhanging branches. Keep in mind that you cannot cross your property line to cut the trees, and if you damage the tree by trimming it, your neighbor could sue you. Depending on the type of tree and value, this could mean dishing out two to three times the value of the tree.
