I built a new home in 2008, and since then my AC unit has taken multiple electricity hits (we have bad power in 29 Palms). In August 2012, we lost the condenser, and I filed a claim with my home warranty company, they sent out someone who claimed there was water damage to the unit (even though we live in a new home and there was no sign of water anywhere around), the home warranty company dis-allowed the claim. Gene and Randee jumped in, sent for the warrantied part, and had us up and running again in a matter of days. They also provided proof that there was no water damage to the unit, and I was able to get a partial reimbursement from my home warranty company. For that, I thank them.
Last year, I decided to purchase a Bonaire-Durango swamp cooler, and Nelson's installed it, running water lines and securing it in the window. This was a recommendation by Gene Nelson, and it cut my electricity bill by $200.00 over the summer months. It meant I could shut-down the AC unit, and run the swamp cooler during the 115 degree heat. I would, and do recommend them to friends.

They were very quick to make an easy sale and sell me the 5 year warranty program. It took them 5 days to arrange delivery, which I can understand that it can take some time. I had to pay extra for the mount that the unit slides into and for the installation for the 2nd floor. They told the tenant (who has been without A/C for 4 days) that the existing 220 outlet was the wrong outlet and they were not allowed to change it out to a 30amp outlet. They have always changed out my outlets in the past when they needed to be changed out. They went ahead and installed the window unit and told the tenant that it was his responsibility to call an electrician and have him change the plug out. I feel that when a company was paid for installation, the appliance should be working when they leave. They could have changed the plug out in 5 minutes. I found someone who took care of the plug and it only took 5 minutes. On top of it all, he sold me an A/C unit with a heat pump when I had only requested the A/C. They were willing to come and switch it out but I refused. I expect to have a better experience in the future if I decide to use them again."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/la/metairie/barto-appliance-reviews-3359724.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"LYONS FUEL CO","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"CA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Michelle B."},"reviewBody":"For nearly a year we had a relatively painless automatic oil delivery experience with these folks, who also do business as \"Arlington Energy.\" In October 2009, however, we ran out of oil. They hadn't filled the tank since April, despite the fact that when we signed up we said that our oil furnace also ran the hot water heater. In early December we ran out again. I called and the receptionist said that they had no way to know how big the house was (they'd visited multiple times; I filled out the square footage when we signed up for automatic delivery), how much oil we might use, or that we were possibly using more due to having a baby at home (definitely my fault). In other words, working with these guys created two emergency \"no heat\" situations in two months. How did they respond to an emergency? The first time they took most of the day before finally showing up with a truck to refill the oil tank. I'm not sure why we didn't get priority over deliveries to non-critical customers, but we didn't. The second time we were without heat for two nights and one full day. This is not a lot of fun when it is below freezing outside and you have a 3-month-old baby at home. We decided that we needed to switch to a company that has multiple technicians available and is willing to come over after hours if necessary to restore heat."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/arlington/lyons-fuel-co-reviews-73392.htm"},"position":10}]}

To buy heating oil for your house, contact local heating oil companies to compare prices and place an order once you decide on a supplier. The company will have to deliver your heating oil in a truck designed to carry and dispense heating oil safely. Call and order your heating oil early enough to have your oil delivered before you need to start using it for home heating.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
You save money on heating oil in a few ways:
Make sure your home is well insulated and sealed against drafts and heat leakage.
Use a thermostat that’s working properly and calibrated accurately.
Increase energy efficiency by insulating your basement and attic.
Turn down your thermostat a few degrees.
Program your thermostat to lower the heat when you’re not home.
Order heating oil during the off-season when prices are likely to be lower.
Summer months tend to be when heating oil prices are lowest because of decreased demand. Buying heating oil during the off-season also prepares you for when the weather gets cold, and you need to start using the oil to heat your home. Although heating oil prices will fluctuate, it’s best to avoid purchasing between September and April, as that's the peak season for heating oil demand.
Overall, heating your home with an oil furnace tends to be less expensive than heating your home with an electric heating system. Oil heating systems stay warm for longer periods of time without drawing a constant electrical current to maintain a temperature. Plus, heating oil systems typically have a longer lifespan and lower price tag than their electrical counterparts, resulting in short- and long-term savings.
