HARRISON ELECTRIC & SOLAR

Founded 1960 • With Angi since October 2007

Our mission is to provide quality, efficient and reliable electrical wiring and service, to assure total satisfaction by putting the customer's needs ahead of our own, and by meeting the requirements of each job with honesty and integrity. Founded in 1960 by Luke Harrison, Sr., a former Chief Electrician's Mate in the U.S. Navy, Harrison Electric has been serving Southern California since March 31, 1960. Since that time, we have completed thousands of projects from the smallest residential service to large industrial plant power. Although Luke Sr. passed on in 1976, his legacy of honesty, compassion, and hard work lives on through his son, Luke Jr, and his grandson, Steve. We have the capability today to do our own design work, load calculations and provide plans for permit purposes. All our Solar projects are designed and constructed in-house with our own crews. In 1993, we incorporated under the name Whittier Power Systems, Inc., d.b.a. Harrison Electric. In 2013, Steve took over the reins as President and incorporated as Sonpower, Inc. dba Harrison Electric & Solar. We still maintain the same degree of honesty and integrity that has been the hallmark of our company from the beginning.

They were outstanding and very courteous. After completing this work order I had them come out two days later and label my electric panel....super service!

I talked to Luke about solar for our house. He gave me a quote. I felt is was a fair price. Luke took care of all the paperwork. Steve and the other Steve were the installers. They did a great job. Its been live for just over a month. My last bill from Edison was for less than $6 and I think that was just the junk taxes and fees on the bill. So thanks Harrison Electric & Solar.

We contacted several solar installers and decided to go with Harrison Electric and Solar as they had very competitive prices and we thought we would get more personalized service than you might get and the bigger solar installation companies. Once the system was installed we knew we absolutely made the right decision! Harrison Electric and Solar spent a lot of time with us telling us about the system, what we could expect and answered the many questions we had (and we had a lot!). Installation went incredibly smoothly and we would not even know that they were at the house installing the system except for the solar panels that were neatly stacked in our yard the day before the actual installation! Once again they left our house and backyard pristine and you would never have guessed that a large solar panel system had recently been installed. One other thing to mention is that a neighbor of ours had recently had a solar panel system installed at her house (by a large solar company) and she was very unhappy with the energy production of her system which was nowhere near what she was told it would be. After telling them about it, Harrison Electric and Solar volunteered to talk to her and give her advice about the system and what mistakes were made with the installation (this despite the fact they were unlikely to get business from her as her system was leased and she would not likely be able to break the lease). Our neighbor was so impressed with the information she received from them and with their professionalism. These guys are first class all the way and I cannot recommend them more highly!

It went great. The solar installation happened exactly the way he said it would. After working with some other solar companies to get bids on various installations (lease, purchase, etc.), we went with Luke because he was the most attentive at answering our questions and provided thorough explanations about the type of system and payback period. They also use some of the best solar panels (no cheap ones like the other companies), which, when factored in, really pay off over time. Since we had Luke here, we had his crew go ahead and redo the old-OLD!- wiring in the house. The crew of 2-3 was here for about 5-6 days. They were very professional and we completely trusted them while we were gone. They always asked questions about what we wanted and cleaned up when we were done. They warned us too about some of the risks of rewiring and old house (having to put extra holes in walls, unexpected issues, etc.). Overall it has been very pleasant and well worth the money.

I phoned Harrison on a Tuesday afternoon and an appraisal was done the same day with a bid submitted. The next morning Steve and Steve were knocking on the door just before their scheduled time. They got to work immediately and conducted themselves professionaly throughout their stay. In a few hours, with a minimal of time we were without electricty, they annnounced the job was completed. I do not recall ever having better service than these two gentlemen provided. Thus far everything is working well. Thank you Harrison.

Description of Work
We had a small job to do. They handled it beautifully. Often times when jobs are too small, companies do not want to take them as they are not always worth their time. This company came, estimated the cost and time the job would take. True! We called them again today with a much larger project.

We got an estimate from them, and it is about what I thought I would it be. We are just looking to get another estimate before we proceed with the work because the state contractors board requires us to get a second estimate due to an issue that we had with another company who did this work for us in the past. They were very professional and they sent us an estimate through email, and it was an excellent estimate.
Description of Work
The work they would have to do is take out the bad smoke dectectors, remove the wiring, punch a whole through the wall replace smoke dectectors, and put in a new circuit board.

Service Provider Response

I have checked our job database and this person has never been our customer. She may be confusing us with another Harrison Electric (there is at least one more in Long Beach, also in Cuyucos and Auburn. If this is someone (or a former employee) impersonating our company, I would like to know.

I decided to call a company that was close to where I live after being stood up by another company. They told me someone would be at my home between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. As promised the electrician called to tell me he was on his way, showing up promptly at 8:00. He quickly solved the problem of a loose circuit switch. I told him I had lost power in the past on this circuit, but no one ever offered to replace the switch or test the amps that were being pulled when I had everything "on" to this particular circuit. He said that replacing the circuit as he did would probably help. When he tested the amps it was under the maximum by a small amount. He offered a solution that should this keep happening he could make a dedicated circuit for the microwave which he felt is probably the culprit. Martin was very knowledgeable and professional, I would call them again in the future should the need arise.

An estimator came first and provided a professional, typed estimate. They agreed to my minor addenda, including getting a city permit. Two electricians arrived on time and did the work competently. They set up the fountain pump, even filled the fountain with water to make sure everything worked. They answered all my questions and left no mess. They are not the cheapest in town but I believe their competence is worth a slightly higher price.
Description of Work
Harrison added three circuits with four outlets (three with arc-fault protectors) and, on an existing circuit, a GFI outlet for the patio fountain pump. The fountain is outside, against a wall of the house, and Harrison had to make a hole in the wall, from the inside, for the outlet with a switch nearby. They also figured out what was wrong with another outlet and replaced it.
