"The team at Cabinet Refresh was terrific, from the original estimating process through the finished kitchen and family room cabinet painting project. This was a kitchen upgrade with all new, high-end appliances. I wanted to change the look and feel after 20 years and increase the home’s value. At all levels there was honesty, trust and great communication. Carol did the estimate and was welcoming in answering all my questions and providing suggestions when needed. She made me comfortable knowing that they could do all I was rfequesting, including making a custom panel for my new Sub Zero that matched my existing cabinetry. Armondo and Melvin were always on time, neat and with a can-do attitude when little things came up. It was a pleasure having them in my home. I would use that team again without question! And for the cabinetry work, there is nobody better than Julio. New door hinges installed to perfection, new pulls aligned the way they should be and a terrific mounting of the custom Sub Zero panels. Everyone loves the new look. For my next project Cabinet Refresh will be the only ones I call."

"Faten Said Celine has an excellent customer service. She helped me in my dark times when iI had to do my kitchen and bathroom remodel in my condo at playa del Rey few months after my husband passed away. In July 2023 She went over and above helping me mentally emotionally and was very patient in every way . She did not push for when itâ s not needed , She showed me the products and made some excellent suggestions all of which iI took into consideration. she is a beautiful human being and i have already referred her to my daughter and some friends. No one could beat her fair pricing. The kitchen cabinets came out perfect. I am thinking of remodelling my own personal residence as well this year. Hire ger and you will not regret it"

"Ulisses was professional, friendly and answered all my questions before the work started. I had old cabinets and he did a good job fixing it and touching them up. Despite the late afternoon start, he didn't rush it and stayed until he felt it was done right."

"Gabe and his team are great! I definitely will hire them again. Quality of work is outstanding. He did a stacked crown molding that gave our home a whole new look and probably added about 30k in value to the home."

"Ashka Design & Construction did an absolutely fantastic job in my home. I had spent weeks trying to find a contractor that not only did great work, but one that I felt was trust worthy. I had Ohan and his team do my whole kitchen, flooring tile, cabinets, new outlets (the old ones were loose), counters, and the can lights. I have a brand new kitchen. I didn?t know what it was going to cost, I had an idea, but I knew doing everything was going to fluctuate depending on what I picked. He was patient, answered all of my questions, showed me the items in my budget, and when it came down to the final I was relieved he was the only one who explained the various products to me. I felt informed and not sold. He didn?t once seem like a skit and he didn?t try to BS me about why I should go with something more expensive. I have a rental property that I?m going to renovate mid next year before I rent it out again, Ohan is my guy now."

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.
The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.
You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.
Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:
A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.
A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.
A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
