"The bathroom tile job is very high quality work. Juan corrected some wall imperfections, suggested some aesthetic improvements to the original tile layout, and completed all the work at a good pace. He was able to start within a few days, and kept me apprised of the progress and changes to the schedule. The work is simply beautiful, and I am very pleased with the quality of workmanship and the look of the final result. Juan was polite, considerate and put in honest days' work each day of the job, breaking the work into sensible stages to prevent interfering with or disturbing tiles that needed to set before it was wise to work in an adjacent area. I will definitely call Juan for my next tile job, He was very easy to work with and could not have been nicer."

"I highly recommend calling this tile contractor. He was able to give a bid over the phone and that's what it cost and it was significantly lower than some of the other contractors. His work was excellent. He was fast and efficient and his expertise was evident in a perfect job well done"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.

Glazed ceramic tiles don’t need to be sealed because the glazing already offers some protection against moisture. Unglazed ceramic tiles need to be sealed to keep the porous tile safe from moisture and staining. However, both types of tile can benefit from sealing. Sealant can make the tiles easier to keep clean and offer more resistance to water, spills, and stains.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

One major drawback of a concrete tile roof is that the material is heavier than most other roofing materials, so there’s a good chance you’ll need structural reinforcements for your home before you can install the roofing material. Concrete tile roofs are also twice as expensive as asphalt shingle roofs, so even though they last much longer, you’ll see higher up-front costs and lower overall value from concrete roof tiles.
