"Oscar arrived on time. Nice and early in the morning and he was able to remove the old fan and replaced it with a new one. He cleaned up afterwards. I will hire him and Garafano electric again in the future."

"My older home has “push-matic” fuse breakers. The breaker for my kitchen malfunctioned and did not trip and ended up frying part of my wiring. I contacted JLP Electrical the next morning and Wallace was able to respond that afternoon. He made all the necessary repairs quickly, even driving over 30 miles away to get the part he needed. We were back up and running that evening and he even provided quotes for my insurance company. He was so good, quick, and professional, that even my neighbors hired him to update their panel the next day! I will continue being a customer for any of my electrical needs. Thank you JLP Electrical!"

"I needed a fan installed in my garage and Quinn came and installed my fan. He also changed out some plugs that were bad. He did a great job and I would definitely call Quality Electric again."

"Very happy with the work completed by Bill (owner), Josh and Pat. Bill always responds promptly to text and calls and explains things clearly. Provided free quote and visited the house to confirm quote. Josh and Pat arrived on time and worked neatly. Josh was able to avoid trenching thru the ceiling even though attic space was limited. They even put back closet shelf that had to be removed to access attic. Josh and Pat even came by another day to help install a remote that I did not have on the day of installation."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.
