"Julia organized my closet and house. I had so much stuff and it was so cluttered. She helped me go through and get rid of items. Then she put everything in order that was so much better than what I was doing before. I highly recommend Closet Jules!!!!"

"Guliano at INA Kitchens was the person that managed and supervised our remodeling project. During the whole work, he was amazing with excellent design skills! Our work included the remodeling of our laundry room, kitchen and master bathroom (everything in one project) and he had a great vision that allowed him to make all the spaces and convert them to a much more functional and modern look at the same time! All the involved team worked excellently as a one big team that knows exactly what they were doing and how to solve all the problems that were raised during the work in a very logic manner and to our best satisfaction. We always knew that someone was available to us in case we needed them or even just had a quick question to be answered. We Highly recommend them all!"

"We could not be happier with our new bathroom, thanks to McCormick! Khaled was knowledgeable and really took the time to understand our style preferences. The whole team was great about keeping the workspace tidy, which we appreciated. Now, we have a bathroom that feels luxurious and welcoming. Highly satisfied with their work!"

"During the high winds last year, a tree fell and took out an entire section of wood fence in my backyard. Wesley came over and cut up the fallen tree and removed it from my yard. He then repaired the fence perfectly."

Closets questions, answered by experts

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

Whether it’s less expensive to build or buy a closet depends on both the type of closet and whether or not you’d be constructing it yourself. The cost of custom closets built by a pro ranges from $1,300 to $3,800, but you may be able to DIY it for as little as $400. By contrast, prefabricated options go as low as $200 and up to $3,000, so it’s almost always less expensive to go this route.

Building custom cabinets or built-in furniture yourself is possible, especially for basic designs, if you have woodworking experience. For a professional result, hiring a service is recommended to ensure precision, high-quality craftsmanship, and superior finishes.

Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:

  • A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.

  • A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.

  • A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.
