"Dallas and Jesus were knowledgeable and professional. They did the work quickly yet thoroughly and were sure to clean up afterwards. The cost was competitive with other plumbing busineses without being overpriced. For my toilet installation, they charged slightly more than Home Depot, the difference being that Home Depot could not provide same day service nor take the time to answer all of my questions (Coast Mechanical did those and more) I will call Coast Mechanical for my future plumbing needs."

"Champs Handy Worx redid my bathroom: changing the bathtub enclosure to a shower stall, installing a vanity with new faucet and switching out a the toilet and lighting. He removed all old bathtub/vanity/toilet from the property. Aside from removing the old and replacing them with new, he helped me select the new shower stall with shower head, dual flush toilet and vanity with faucet. Then he plastered and repaired the walls and topped it off with fresh paint and lighting. He set a goal of completing the project in 5 days and completed it in a timely manner. Champs Handy Worx was professional, worked efficiently, kept the workspace clean and tidy, and kept a sense of humor. I highly recommend Champs Handy Worx. He stayed within the work quote and delivered excellent work."

"Tyler of Payton’s Plumbing did a fantastic job. He did what he said he would do promptly and efficiently. We would highly recommend him. Yesterday we had a leaking water heater and today we have a new water heater. Couldn’t ask for better service at a reasonable price."

"Randy was so responsive. He was the first and only person who contacted me when I initially entered my info/problem on Angi's list/Home Advisor. I was quite surprised as I had never looked there for help and didnt expect a call. I was still in the process of looking for someone when he called, and he seemed very knowledgeable and I felt my search had ended after we talked. He was able to come the same day (I had company so this was a blessing). I wanted to not only have the clog in my kitchen pipes cleared but I also was looking for someone to help find out why this keeps happening. He mentioned when we spoke that he had a camera for a small extra charge that he may put in the pipes to see if something bigger was happening. I thought that was great technology to have access to. After he saw our house setup, he felt that the camera was not necessary and didnt want to have me pay for something I didnt need and I appreciated that very much. He did give me a couple suggestions of things to do to keep the water and gunk from backing up (possible more downward angle for better water flow, simple fix for us to do), and the use of a drain cleaner that is safe for septic. Randy was a very nice and sincere man and a pleasure to have help me with our issue."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Left unattended, a leaking toilet will eventually cause water damage or mold growth. If you’re a homeowner, you can file an insurance claim for water damage. However, that can be a long and tedious process; sometimes, your insurance company may not cover the damage. Therefore, it’s always best to fix any leak you notice right away if you can.

The Thanksgiving holiday period is one of the busiest times of the year for plumbers. Both Thanksgiving Day and the day after, often called Black Friday or "Brown Friday" by plumbing professionals, see a significant increase in service requests. This is because a house full of guests, large holiday meals, and unfamiliarity with the home's plumbing can lead to clogged drains, garbage disposal issues, and sewer line backups. Outside of the holidays, the busiest weekdays for plumbers are typically Monday and Tuesday, as many people discover plumbing problems over the weekend but wait to call for service. Despite the holiday, you can rest assured that many plumbers work on Thanksgiving and Black Friday to handle the surge in emergency calls.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

Hiring an emergency plumber is expensive because of the urgency and inconvenience, but there are a few things you can do to help keep costs down:

  • Minimize water damage by shutting off your water main

  • Clean up pooling water immediately to reduce damage and mold growth

  • Avoid using fixtures if you have a clog or septic system backup

  • Verify that your plumber is licensed before hiring

  • Call a few plumbers for estimates if you can afford a short delay in getting service

Replacing a toilet costs between $275 and $480 in most cases, and the average cost sits around $375. This includes removing the old toilet and installing the new toilet. Your price could be significantly higher if you invest in a high-quality brand, need the replacement done on an emergency basis, or replace your toilet as a part of a larger bathroom remodel that demands additional work.
