"We needed a major concrete job done at our home in Sanger. About 2450 square feet of concrete that was poured in the 1970's needed to be removed and replaced. I had 2 contractors come out to measure and give me an estimate. Conrad's bid was a little more than the first contractor, but I chose Conrad. The deciding factor was that he asked me whether we had a slope in the carport. I had forgotten that we did not. When I tried washing down the cement, water would pool in the middle. The other contractor did not ask me this. This was my deciding factor in allowing Conrad to do the work. About 2 days to demolish with some heavy equipment, and then about 4 ½ days to pour the concrete. During the demolition Conrad and his employee, Tony, talked to me about how they could modify the pour at the entrance so it would provide a uniform look to the front door entrance. I agreed. They also talked to me about another modification that would cost a few dollars more, and I agreed. During the demolition (this was heavy duty demolition), some sprinkler pipes were broken but he made the repair. Altogether, they poured about 38 yards of concrete. Conrad, Tony and Conrad's sons are hard working people who I would highly recommend. Don't be alarmed when they bring out their lawn chairs because they're not slacking. They know how to take breaks when appropriate. I appreciated their hard work and laid out some cold drinks and snacks. It's the least I could do to compensate for their hard work."

"Josh and his team works for me for more than 20 years. He did between 12 and 15 of my restaurants every year. From basic striping to resurfacing parking lots. He works hard. He works unusual hours. And he did whatever he needed to do to keep my business operating while he was resurfacing or sealing my parking lot. Most companies will not extend that service to you. Nobody’s perfect, but he tries to me the customers needs. And he was always available when I called him."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.

Asphalt, which is stone mixed with tar, is the most common material for outdoor basketball courts because it’s so sturdy and versatile. However, you don't have to use it: another option is polymeric rubber, which has shock pads that can prevent injury. This option is a little more expensive, ranging between $16 and $25 per square foot.

Materials used for indoor basketball courts, such as hardwoods, aren’t really an option outdoors.

At a depth of two inches, a ton of asphalt covers around 80 to 100 square feet. However, the thicker the asphalt, the less surface area it will cover. That’s why measuring correctly is essential when estimating asphalt needs and costs to ensure you get enough material to cover your entire driveway, patio, or other asphalt surface.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Think of the street as a way to capture all the elements on either side of the road, including the road—a street encompasses the homes or other buildings, the trees, and the road of a given area as defined by the beginning and end of the street on a map. A roadway, however, is the component of the street where cars travel.
