"The initial install went ok but then I noticed a bubble in the front passenger side window and that the tint alignment on the back windows was slightly off. I went back and had it fixed at not cost, however the new tint that was applied still has bubbles in it and the back window tint that was "fixed" is aligned worse now than before. I pointed this out to the tech and he said that's as good as it can get. I've had tint on every truck that I've owned and never had the tint look like this."

"We actually needed a poor tinting to be removed from a living room window.  These folks did a great job, they were fast, curtious and neat.  No heavy sell for for tinting, but if we did decide to re-tint the window or any others in the house, I would definitely call Tint San Diego again.

"I called Genesis on a Saturday and spoke with Todd, who was polite and professional, about tinting the windows on my wife's Honda Pilot. He was knowledgeable and gave me a good price quote over the phone. I scheduled an appointment for the coming Monday and Todd was flexible to accommodate my early morning schedule. A convenient plus is that Todd will come to a place that you designate. He arrived promptly at our house at the appointment time, showed me the various tints and provided me with details that allowed me to make an informed decision on the best tint for my car. I left for work and my wife paid him after he completed the work. When I came over that evening to inspect the work, I was impressed with the overall quality. However, there was one little area on the window in the back seat, where the baby seat is located, where there was a two millimeter gap between the edge of the window and the tint. Given the dark tint we selected, this small gap created a noticeable bright line. I called Todd and asked him to come back and replace this small section of tinting. He explained that due to the nature of some cars' window posts, getting the tint to lie flush against the window post was difficult and that this "gap" was within normal installation tolerances. I explained that the same section on the opposite window was done very well with no gap and that I didn't see a reason why a gap in other window section should be acceptable. So, I asked that Todd come back to see the gap and replace this small section of tint. Even though he seemed reluctant to do this re-work, he agreed to come by and replace the tint when he was back in our area. About a week or so later, he came back and replaced this small section to our satisfaction. Based on the fact that Todd came back and replaced this section combined with the overall quality of his work and fair price, I would recommend Genesis Tinting to others."

"They were fine. My only issue is the way they breakdown, what qualifies the window. What they ended up charging you for the windows was extraordinary. It was done well but it wasn't cost-effective."

"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

You can easily and cheaply use tin foil or cardboard to black out your windows. Save a pretty penny by cutting either material to the size of your windows and taping it to the window. This is one of the easiest and most budget-friendly blackout solutions, but it definitely isn’t the most aesthetically friendly.

If you have bubble wrap lying around the house and you don’t care about the odd look, taping bubble wrap over a window is a very affordable way to insulate it. Another inexpensive option for insulating windows is to add new caulk around the glass. This step quickly cuts down on air drafts for older windows, and a tube of caulk only costs a few dollars. Adding plastic shrink film around the glass is another cost-effective option. You can purchase a kit of plastic film for a few dollars per window.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on the number and size of windows.

No, it isn’t necessary to have energy-efficient windows. However, if you care about your energy bill and making your windows more energy efficient, fixing any heat, UV, or air transfer issues is an excellent way to lower your bills and keep your house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

A common way to modernize arched windows is to install interior window treatments that allow light through the curved portion up to and let you cover the bottom portion for privacy. You can also install plantation shutters to make an arched window look more modern. From the exterior, arched windows can appear outdated if they’re coupled with ornate trim, so toning down the decor can make your window look more natural with a modern design.
