"Tom just painted the exterior of our home. He was professional, communicative, clean, knowledgeable and helpful. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars regarding customer service. It was really a pleasure to know exactly what was happening, when he would be doing what and what to expect."

"The job was to power-wash our red tile roof which had 22 years of accumulated pine sap, lichen, mold and who knows what else baked on it. Pacific Edge Painting came with 3 guys, each with a commercial grade power-washer, and went over the roof for over 10 hours making sure every square inch was cleaned. The result is beautiful! This outfit, headed by Juan Sanchez, obviously takes great pride in their work, and did not rest until the job was perfect. Their written estimate was very reasonable, and they stuck to it, even though the job probably took longer than they expected. I can't recommend Pacific Edge Painting highly enough. If you want a hassle free, professional job done right, these are your guys."

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"I had Paint-Tech Restoration take out my "popcorn ceilings" out of 3 bedrooms, a hall and living room. They did a great job and also cleaned up everything. I also had them paint the ceilings. Julian is very pleasant on the telephone and did everything in a timely manner."

"We knew our roof needed to be replaced for a while, but kept putting it off because it felt like such a big project. After meeting with Ocean Seven Builders, we felt comfortable moving forward. Ron was straightforward from day one and didn?t overcomplicate anything. He broke everything down in simple terms and gave us a realistic timeline. The crew worked fast, showed up when they said they would, and cleaned up every day. It?s been a few weeks now and everything looks great. Happy we finally got it done!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.
