"GD Fence completed about 100 feet of wood fence for us. Guillermo and his crew demolished the old fence and put up the new fence in one day. About a third of the fence covered a steep hill. The area was cleaned up after and they worked around several large plants without disturbing them. Communication was excellent and he kept us informed during the entire process. He hand~picks all materials and won’t use inferior wood in your project. We definitely recommend GD Fence for your project."

"The gentleman was on time and very professional. During the quote, he stated the job would be approximately $900.00 to remove and preserve the metal fence. I believed that to be a reasonable price. However, after receiving a quote for $1800.00 which is double the price, and the cost of a new fence is approximately $1300.00 I decided to go elsewhere and replace the fence."

"Huizar Landscaping replaced me and my neighbors old wooded fence with a beautiful vinyl fence. Marco is a very nice man and made everything go smoothly. His crew was professional and it was apparent that they enjoyed their work. They sang and laughed throughout the project. They helped coordinate with my neighbors to make sure everyone was very happy. They explained how everything would be done, the schedule, and updated me on any issues or variances. Everything proceeded exactly as Marco explained. The cost was very reasonable and competitive. I got 6 different bids and Huizar Landscaping was the overall best. We are very happy with our new fence and highly recommend Marco and his crew."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In San Diego, the coastal microclimates mean fencing near the ocean faces salty air and strong winds, which can accelerate corrosion and wear. Inland neighborhoods may experience hotter, drier conditions that intensify UV exposure and cause some materials to fade or warp. Choosing UV-stabilized, corrosion-resistant fencing and reinforcing posts is essential for privacy fencing and property line installations throughout the region.

Helpful?

For San Diego’s coastal areas, powder-coated aluminum, composite, and UV-resistant vinyl are ideal for withstanding salty air and sun. In inland neighborhoods, redwood or cedar with UV-protective sealants, masonry, and powder-coated steel perform well. Always use galvanized or stainless fasteners and set posts in concrete to ensure your fence installation endures local soil and weather conditions.

Helpful?

In San Diego, you’ll find full-service fence installation companies, specialists in privacy fencing, and contractors focusing on materials like vinyl, wood, or ornamental metal. Some general contractors include fencing as part of larger projects, while handypersons handle minor repairs. Always verify licensing and experience with your chosen material, especially for hillside or coastal installations where expertise is crucial.

Helpful?

In San Diego, most fence installation projects take 2–4 weeks for smaller yards and 3–10 weeks for larger or custom designs. Timelines can be affected by neighborhood-specific permit processing, HOA reviews in communities like Carmel Valley, and material delivery. The region’s mild weather helps minimize weather-related delays, but planning for utility marking and property line verification can keep your project on track.

Helpful?

In San Diego, hidden costs may arise from permit or HOA review fees, extra labor for digging in rocky or clay-heavy soil, and addressing property line disputes common in older neighborhoods. Unexpected expenses can also include utility marking, removing mature landscaping, or adapting to sloped lots. After installation, budget for sealing, painting, and restoring any disturbed irrigation or landscaping features.
