"Paramount Pavers was such a pleasure to work with. They arrived on time every day, completed the project more quickly than expected and were proactive in ensuring our project came out even better than we had planned. Pricing was great and we really couldn’t be happier with their work. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for re-paving and driveway replacemnt!"

"They were very professional and helpful and I hired them for another job in AV already. The co was on time daily and finished the job when they proposed it to be done. Cleaned up after themselves beautifully and my 13 tenants in HB were impressed with the results"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired them a few times for work and every time they were professional, on time and within budget. I not only had them do some great looking planter boxes that were custom built for our space, but they also laid concrete for me a few times and everything is always done clean and pro looking. I've hired a lot of people over the years and Hugo and his team are the only service I've ever been 100% happy with."

"The driveway had cracks spreading across most of it, and it wasn't wide enough for two cars. After going through options, we went with a new concrete driveway that extended the space by nearly 300 sq. ft. The crew set forms, leveled the ground, and poured with clean edges that connect smoothly to the street. No corners were cut with grading, and they made sure water would run off correctly. It was a large project, yet everything stayed organized. The upgrade has already made everyday parking and access much easier."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

The ideal distance between stepping stones depends on your design preference. A general rule is to place them about 24 inches apart from center to center to match an average person's stride. Another common approach is to leave about 6 inches of space between the edges of each stone; this can be adjusted to fit the path's total length without cutting pavers. If you plan to plant between the stones, leave at least 6 to 8 inches of space to give the plants room to grow.

Although you could try to lay stepping stones directly over grass, which speeds up the installation process significantly, this method often leads to a poor result over time. Even heavy paver stones will eventually slide or shift on top of the grass. Digging into the ground and following the steps we listed is the best way to lay stepping stones for a long-lasting result.

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

After removing existing moss, consider using paver blocking sand to fill the joints. This specialty material hardens once placed and serves as an effective barrier against moss and weeds. From there on, regularly clean your pavers and try to keep them dry. You can also seal your paver as a semi-permanent solution — just make sure you reseal every 3 to 5 years.
