"When I called Vince, he was on his way to another job. He took my number and told me he would call the following day and gave me an approx time. When I spoke to Vince the following day as scheduled, he informed me that he would be tied up on the other job, but would send someone out to take a look at it. The person who came out took a look at my roof and called Vince on the spot to tell Vince where the leak was. Vince gave me a price over the phone with a guarantee. I knew I was close to having to replace my roof. Vince told me my options, but NEVER once tried to push me to try and replace it. I opted to just repair the leak. Vince gave me a more than far price and it was fixed it on the spot. I had to leave to visit a friend in the hospital so I wasn?t able to stay for the job to be completed. Vince said they would stay and do the job and told me to just mail him the money. When I mailed the payment, I apparently put the wrong address on the envelope and it was returned in the mail about two weeks later. I re-mailed the payment and called Vince to tell him what happened. He was so kind and so understanding. When I finally have to break down and replace my roof Vincent Fascio Roofing will definitely have my business."

"Excellent work. I have used this company for years for all house repairs and remodeling. Manny the owner is a general contractor...licensed and insured. He has done major repairs like replacing the gas line from the street to our house. This required digging up and replacing concrete. Tunneling under a retaining wall and digging up around 40 feet of lawn. Also, Manny did a beautiful job in remodeling a bathroom. He has done air conditioning repair work that saved us $3,000. The work that he has done for me includes painting, plumbing, masonry, concrete replacement etc. He always leave the premises clean when he is done for the day and at the end of each job. His prices are exceptional...equal to his work."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.

Using a snow blower can make removing snow easier if you have physical limitations and a large area to cover. Snow blowers can remove large amounts of snow quickly, which can also save you time. However, shoveling can be efficient for smaller areas with light snow. The method you use will depend on the specific situation and your preference. Of course, you can skip doing it yourself and stay out of the cold by hiring a snow removal company near you.

Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

Snowblowers come in three different sizes: first-, second-, and third-stage blowers. Each additional stage is larger with higher intakes, more powerful, and has more gear options.

A first-stage blower, also called a snow thrower, is usually best for snow 6 to 8 inches or below. Electric snow blowers are usually only available in this size. If you regularly get snow that’s well above six inches, consider a second-stage snow blower. If snowstorms dump 2 to 3 feet of snow repeatedly during winter, you need a third-stage snow blower to tackle it.
