remodeling small or big projects comercial or residencial decks bathrooms paint floors kitchens drywall concrete ADU and more

"JB Remodeling Experts blew me away. They stepped in after another company, referred by our insurance (ATI - ALSO outstanding, and for whom I wrote a review here) completed the recovery phase of our disastrous kitchen water leak. The final restoration was going to be a challenge, because two custom cabinets on either side of the refrigerator (whose ice maker water line caused the original problem) were damaged, and the damaged laminate floor in the kitchen was part of a flooring job that covered the entire front of our our house. The business owner, Juan, appeared promptly to view the area, we discussed various options, and settled on the installation of black slate in lieu of tearing up the entire front of the house and restoration and installation of the damaged cabinets to match the rest of the custom cabinets. The job also included installing fire code-approved wallboard between the kitchen and the garage. We got a full cost estimate in a couple of days, and an estimate of two weeks' work. There were 2-3 guys who showed up every day for a week, starting on a Monday, always right before 8 AM as promised. We have cameras in the house, so I could watch them work while I hid out in a bedroom in the back to work. They took a couple of really brief breaks for some water, and spent about 20 minutes sitting in their trucks to eat lunch around noon. Otherwise, they were always, always working. It was probably the most efficient installation I've ever seen. They got all the wall board installed in the garage in two days, while two guys were working on the flooring, and someone was working off-site restoring and matching the cabinet finish. On Wednesday, I remembered we had a fan/light we had always meant to install over the dining table and my husband remembered he had been wanting a separate outlet for our watering system timer in the garage. I texted Juan to see what the odds were they could fit that in and what the cost would be. I got an affirmative response in about an hour, and the electrician showed up the next day (and finished all that same day). I had plenty of opportunity to watch them work, and they did not cut corners at all. If the work being done by one guy was creating debris, another guy was right there behind him cleaning up. Nobody every lounged around or wandered off. In between the major repairs, they managed to lay down/replace three transition strips between rooms/outside so beautifully that I almost didn't notice them -- before, there either was a missing strip and gap, or an ugly/bulky strip that I frequently tripped over. The topper was that, due to their advance work, really efficient allocation of work so that everyone on site was always doing something, and disciplined attention to detail . . . they finished the job, cleaned up all the debris, and were finished by 5 PM on Friday of the first week! It really was the most amazing service delivery I've ever experienced."

FAQs for exterior painting projects in Pleasanton, CA

You should paint your home exterior every five to 10 years, on average. Climate and surroundings can affect how well paint holds up. Wood siding will likely need a fresh coat of paint every three to seven years. Paint on brick tends to last about eight to 17 years, on average.

Calculate the square footage of the area you want to paint. Divide the square footage by 350 (the average square footage a gallon of paint covers). Multiply the number of gallons you need by two, as you’ll likely be applying two coats of paint. For a more accurate estimate, subtract the square footage of the windows and doors from the initial square footage total. It’s a good idea to plan for an extra gallon of paint to make sure you have enough to finish the job.

To calculate the square footage of a home exterior, painters multiply the length of the wall by the height of the wall to be painted. Then they add the total square footage for all of the walls to be painted. To calculate the price, they multiply the total square footage by their cost per square foot to prep and paint. Additional costs may factor in such as repairs, additional trim, and walls higher than the first story.

The cost to paint the exterior of a house ranges from $1,900 to $4,500 or about $1.50 to $4 per square foot, depending on the size, height, and complexity of the home layout. Other cost factors include your location, the type of siding (e.g., wood, aluminum, brick, stucco, etc.), and the kind of paint (e.g. oil-based, latex, acrylic, etc.). Painting the trim a different color or painting intricately designed trim can also increase the cost.

You should apply at least two coats of paint when painting the exterior of your house. Two coats of paint provides better durability and more even coverage than just one coat.
