"Having worked with Ygal before made the decision of who to work with to accomplish this project fairly simple. He and I spoke at some length about what my husband and I envisioned for our garage makeover. It took quite a bit of planning before work actually began. I had no idea how complicated it would be to bring our old garage into the 21st century. Ygal explained what was necessary - that all of the myriad gas and water pipes and electrical wires had to be moved in order to end up with a clean product for the framing and drywall. He has excellent contacts in the construction industry and definitely brings the best people in to work with him. This turned out to be a bigger and more complicated job than originally anticipated. A soffitt had to be built across the entire east side of the garage to encase the plumbing pipes and electrical wires. A smaller soffitt was also built across the west side above the garage door for a similar purpose. The area around and behind a tankless water heater had to be creatively framed and boxed to allow for access to the pipes. Each of the walls was drywalled, the entire roof line was insulated and a ceiling created, existing skylights were boxed in as were numerous odd empty corners, and a small loft built to allow for extra miscellaneous storage. Finally, everything was textured, primed, and painted. We completed the project with cupboards, flooring, a laundry sink, and new lighting provided by other companies. Ygal understood what we wanted to accomplish and was able to put the pieces of the puzzle together to make it happen. Because our garage opens off of our family room, we often have a reason to go out there. Having a bright, airy, clean, and well-organized garage has definitely increased the quality of our lives. There is literally a place for everything, including the cars!"

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

Children can become interested in playset activities as young as two years old, and many start to lose interest between ages nine and 12. Backyard playsets can grow and adapt as the children age and playtime interests change.

There are many different types of basketball hoops available to choose from.

  • Portable hoops are fully moveable and generally do not require assistance with assembly.

  • Semi-portable in-ground hoops have an anchor cemented in the ground and a removable post.

  • In-ground hoops are fully built into the ground as one piece and cannot be relocated after placement.

  • Wall-mounted hoops do not have a post or pole and work well when space is limited.

You can start by finding playground installers in your area that have amassed mostly positive reviews online. Next, search for the companies on the Better Business Bureau’s (BBB) website to see if any consumer complaints have been filed. Once you rule out companies with poor reviews and a history of complaints, contact the remaining options and ask the following questions to find the right installer for you:

  • Will you pull permits if required?

  • Do you offer a warranty?

  • How long do you expect the installation to take?

  • Do you have experience working with the specific playground material I want?

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Yes! It’s always a good idea to anchor your playset. Even though they’re heavy, it doesn’t take much wind to blow one over. Anchoring everything to the ground makes it a lot safer for your kiddos.
