"It could not have gone better! Bobby, the owner, and the Laws of Nature will never disappoint you. Bobby's work ethic, his genuine care for his clients, his understanding of nature, his knowledge of animals and pests, are beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. In addition to all of this, he cares about the environment. You will notice many unique aspects to Bobby; an authenticity that is rare, and a consistent intention to go above, and beyond what is required. He never settles for the least he could do. He always does each job to the fullest extent necessary to accomplish the agreed-upon objective. Trustworthy, reliable, conscientious, and hard-working. That is Bobby Laws and the laws of Nature."

"It went rough, but we were both at fault. Had to say that first. But I am mostly satisfied. The outside sales person was on time for the walk through. He was nice and seemed knowledgeable. He had a lot of prior experience as a laborer before he became a sales rep. He was able to present his company and offer a quote on the spot. I agreed and gave him a deposit. Off we go. Right? Well, he based his quote on 700 square feet when it was actually 1100. That's why his price was low. You would think that I got a deal. But no. The labor crew only showed up with enough insulation for 700 SF. Not enough. So here is what we had to do. Introduce Jose. The lead man on the project. If it were not for him, it would have went south in a hurry. Turns out that Jose is a good person with a soul, and I am happy to "work with" a great person like Jose. APP is lucky to have him, and I hope they are taking good care of him. Just so you don't think I am fake, the "helper" that Jose had that day was worthless. Didn't want to work because he is a 20 year old kid who was out all night drinking and chasing girls (or boys), and was hung over. I did more 90% more work than he did (yes, I helped Jose. I have a good soul too). I let Jose vacuum out the old stuff, then I made him stop. He understood. Come back when you have 1100SF of insulation. Right? Before he took off, Jose up-sold me on insulating the bottom of my house (in between the floor joists under the sub floor)(under the house), applying a radiant barrier in the attic and switching from blown in cellulose with the pink panther batts. I ended up insulating under the house by myself. Nice. I communicated that to APP, but it got lost in translation. When the day arrived that Jose returned with 1100SF of material to finish the job, he showed up with two helpers. BTW, I had to request the APP office to please make sure Jose was who they sent to complete my job. Regardless of my implicit instructions that I subsequently made with the APP office, that I changed my mind and now want blown in cellulose again, and NO radiant barrier, Jose and crew still showed up with pink panther batts and radiant barrier. Whatever. The crew is there, lets get to work. The reason I only give them a B is because they installed the radian barrier wrong (in my opinion). I did research and radiant barrier should be one inch from the roof sheeting (plywood) if it's hot southern California. They stapled it to the 2x4 rafters so it's really 3-1/2 inches from the sheeting. Not sure if it is even radiating anything at this point. I think I just wasted a $1000. Even so, my neighbor asked me who did the job, and I ended up giving them the APP biz card, so I guess that was kind of a recommendation."

"To begin with, I was so pleased with the lady who answered the phone. She got me an appointment quickly and was sympathetic about my bug invasion.
The technicians arrived promptly. They set out ant bait (the stuff you can't get at Home Depot), sprayed inside and out, and within an hour my ant problem was history.
They also treated my yard for gophers and found and removed a bee hive further out in the yard that was lurking in the sprinkler control box. These treatments were additional cost items.
Dave is the fellow who comes when I have any new issues. He is very helpful and courteous.
The only limitation I've had with Hearts is one time I had a bee invasion in my house, and because of the location (so close to where the ceiling and roof met), Hearts couldn't help me. I called "The Bee Guy" who helped me.
Something to keep in mind is that each location is its own franchise. The people (management, dispatch and technicians) at the Rancho Bernardo location are different than the others.

"This company was one of few I've come across who are aware of the dangers of having not only rats/mice, but also bats in a home. They know bats carry histoplasmosis and shed it in their feces, which can cause mental and physical illness, even in otherwise healthy people. Some bat websites encourage people to "live harmoniously" with bats in your home, workplace, and/or in your palm trees. Trust me, NO ONE will "live harmoniously" with bats in their building, because disseminated histoplasmosis can cause focal neurological deficits, which can cause (among other things) "rage without provocation." My workplace had an outbreak from roosting bats, and it was AWFUL! In addition to things like leukemia and schizophrenia, it can cause things like autoimmune symptoms and symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease, etc. It also can result in a positive ANA titer, so if you're given an immune-suppressing drug like Prednisone while infected, only your god can help you, because your doctors won't. They CAN'T, because almost no doctor understands DISEMMINATED histoplasmosis, especially in immunocompetent victims. There's a reason people came up with the term "batsh#t crazy.""

"Good overall experience, Ron was very nice, informative, and helpful. The fee for our service felt high to me, but he was able to solve our Bird Mite issue and that's all that matters. We didn't shop around with pricing so I can't say if other companies would have been cheaper."

"Tyler and Jeremy worked long, hard days in brutal heat with great attitudes and attention to detail. I can't say enough good things about them. They were on-time, worked hard, communicated with us (and our roofers) effectively, and best of all--they solved our problem. I plan to continue to work with them in the future with annual re-checks.

"Update: 8/20/19: Not even ONE ant visible on my property or in the house! Thanks again Jazmin and Plateau Pest Solutions! I have had an ant problem for the last 6 -7 years. They seem to come and go with no rhyme or reason. They were mostly seen in the kitchen on the counter tops and even inside drawers and upper cabinets. About 4 months ago, I happened to see a few on my entertainment cabinet (contains the satellite receivers, OTA receivers, ROKU, etc). They were a LOT OF ANTS... moving around so when I lifted up the Blu-ray player, there must have been 500+ ants including the workers bringing in food. It was hard to believe what I saw. We used various home-brew methods to control them and for the most part they did work. We have used vinegar + water + essential oils. This concoction works well but only temporarily. After looking over the list of pest control companies, I chose to call Plateau Pest Control for an estimate. Calling the phone number given, I got the owner, Terry, and we had a conversation. He outlined the various plans and approximate costs. I called the office and made an appointment for the next day. I contracted for an INSIDE and OUTSIDE spray since that gets them coming and going. The chemicals they use allow the ants to RETURN to the nest/colony and then distribute the poison to wipe out the nest. Jazmin, the exterminator called me on the way to my house. When she arrived I took her on a tour of the hot-spots where ants have been seen. As we toured, ants were seen trying to get-into the house. She completed the inside spray and powder distribution and moved to the outside where she set up a perimeter. This chemical is designed for the ants to bring it back to the nest and thereby killing the colony. On the west side of the property, (about 7 feet from the kitchen) we have a small plant-garden that my wife keeps to grow various flowers and some herbs. Jazmin noticed a higher concentration of ants so she investigated. Under the St Francis water statue, was the main colony! Had to be 20,000 or more ants! She completely saturated the area inserting the spray nozzle deep into the earth to guarantee contract with the chemical. She followed the trail and completely saturated the colonys perimeter. This morning the colony is dead... and we have no more ants! To say I am pleased is an understatement! Great job, Jazmin and Plateau Pest Control."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Yes, in some cases if your damper is left open, animals can come down your chimney. In these instances, it’s more likely that they have fallen in while looking for a safe spot rather than entered your house intentionally. Leaving your damper closed or installing a chimney cap can prevent animals from coming inside.

If a wild animal enters your yard, prioritize safety for yourself and the animal. Remember to avoid direct contact and always keep a safe distance. Contact local authorities or a wildlife rehabilitation center if the animal is hurt or in distress. Both sources should be able to guide you on how to proceed and send help if needed. Please wait for the animal to leave naturally for non-threatening situations, as many will. To deter future visits, implement measures like securing trash cans, sealing entry points, and removing potential food sources.

Small amounts of geese are actually good for the environment. They help spread seeds and lead to more plant growth, but they’re often an invasive species, particularly Canadian geese. This means a small gaggle can quickly grow into a level that litters your lawn with bald patches and excrement.

Using audio and visual methods to discourage birds might work initially, but birds tend to acclimate to them over time. While chemical deterrents can show some effectiveness, their results can be inconsistent. Some may dissipate too quickly, and there's a risk they might cause unintended damage to your surroundings. Additionally, birds might become immune or resistant to the impact of such treatments.

Birds eat grass seed for one simple reason—it’s delicious! The seeds are rich in nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Seeds are also high in energy, so humans eat trail mix loaded with seeds and nuts for long-distance activities. Grass seed, when unprotected, is also exceptionally easy to access.
