"Better than imagined. We got a few quotes from reputable painters in the City. All seemed a little high. I received a message from someone on Angie’s list recommending Tim with ET Painters so I called Tim. Great decision! Tim came out out a Saturday, evaluated the job and gave me his quote. Very personable, honest guy. When I hired Tim I told him that he wouldn’t have to paint around our rain gutters, but then we had new gutters installed. Tim said “ no worries, I’ll just tape the gutters off”. I realize now that was probably a lot of extra work for him, but he didn’t change the quote. He just did it. Our house looks amazing!! Tim did the job quickly, professionally, and was a pleasure to work with. I will hire Tim with ET Painting when we paint the interior this winter. Thanks Tim and ET Painting! Happy Client here."

"Pier & Son Painting is top notched. Perry came out and walked our exterior painting job and gave us an estimate on the spot. He called later and gave us a date to have the work done. He even hired a carpenter to replace the siding on the back of our garage. These guys are pro's. The paint job is high quality. Our neighbor was so impressed he got a business card from them. The only con I had was that some of the things that needed to be put back after painting were not replaced. We ended up painting and installing a stair railing ourselves, pulling out some nails that were forgotten and, the big deal was that the flood light bulbs were not put back up on the side of the house and they are too high for us to put up ourselves. We are seniors and do not climb on high ladders any more so I guess they will just remain off. The bottom line is the paint job was beautifully done though, and we're very happy. Thanks Perry!"

"This husband and wife team were top notch! They were always "positive" to all of my requests concerning the painting of the exterior portion of my house. We are very happy with the ways the colors came out for the house. They were very reasonable in the cost of doing the painting job. Would definitely hire them again!"

"Painter did an amazing job! Very professional and demonstrated a highly detailed paint job. He was on time and I really enjoyed how he brought his own color wheel and equipment and was able to consult with me on the best colors. He walked me though his process and then completed the job fast and efficiently. I love how the project turned out and it’s definitely worth the price. The price is very affordable because of his value he brings and years of experience and job that is highly professional. I will gladly recommend him to anyone! Derrick is a real pleasure to work with and anyone would be happy to have his services."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

There are times when you should remove all exterior paint before repainting. This includes when you need to get rid of lead-based paint (which should be done by a pro), or if you need to apply a different finish than what’s already there. Your house may also have too many pre-existing layers of old paint, in which case you’ll be better off getting rid of the old layers first.

The easiest and fastest way to remove paint from a surface is to use a chemical paint stripper to loosen the paint and then remove the paint using a paint scraper. You can also speed up the process by making the area as accessible as possible, which could include removing window sashes or taking doors off the hinges.

DIY is possible with strippers or sanding, but professional services ensure efficiency and prevent surface damage.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

Linoleum adhesive is quite stubborn, so you may have to try several different methods for removal. You can start with a wallpaper steamer and steam it off or add laundry detergent to water and let it soak into the adhesive. You can try paint thinner directly on the adhesive for about 10 minutes and then wipe away.
