"I used a Craigslist deal offering a fixed price for a single leak for $385.  I have a flat roof and water pools in an area and was leaking into the house, despite prior work to waterproof it.  I already had done research and knew that the only way to remedy this was to fix the issue with the lack of drainage from the roof, which over time had been caused by settling so that the water no longer drained properly into the drainpipe. 
Ultimately this is the work that was done, and I can understand certainly was more involed than a simple leak fix, however, I ended up paying $2500 with absolutely no credit or acknowledgement of my original deal.   All things considered, I could have tried to get some estimates for this problem, and given that all the work was completed in 4 hours or less, not only did I probably pay a premium amount for this, but having paid a fee in advance, which ended up being nothing more than a retainer in advance to get them out to my home, I don't feel the "Fix a leak" deal benefitted me, and actually put me into a situation where I had less of a bargaining position, as I had already paid that amount many months earlier.

"Let me start by saying that US Home Developers hires people with good intentions, especially Regev whom we are forever grateful to for helping us look for our dog when he went missing, but their work product is substandard.  (Let the photos we post be the evidence.)

Our bathrooms were actually completed in March 2013, but we didn't post any reviews because we come from the old school of "If you have nothing good to say, then don't say it".  BUT, after our SECOND warranty call with them today, we just couldn't remain silent.

This review is on the warranty call we made to repair our master bath ceramic undermount sinks that are separating from the granite countertops.  We called US Home Developers 2 wks ago about the sinks drooping.  Eli, our original project manager, called back and came out promptly the next morning to examine the problem.  Now, Eli is very courteous and professional, always taking off his shoes before coming into the house.  Eli agreed the sinks were drooping as the silicone had major gaps/cracks and you can clearly see the sinks rise and fall when you push them up from underneath.  Eli agreed to fix themand told us to let him know when we were ready (we originally wanted replace a couple cracked shower tiles caused by the recent earthquake but decided to hold off thus the delay in scheduling.)  Eli said they will put wood underneath as additional support and re-silicone all sinks in master bath and guest bath (sink in guest bath was never siliconed correctly; there are huge gaps where they failed to continuously apply the sealant.)

Eli promised someone would be here today but couldn't tell us the time until we had to nudge him further and let him know that nobody was going to be home to open the door unless we have a specific time.  Everyone has things to do and we can't sit around all day waiting, which we did before when one of their plumbers was supposed to show but didn't.

 Around 8 am, 1 worker showed up.  All he knew was that he was suppose to fix sinks.  We had to show him the sinks and describe the work that needed to be done. He didn't believe the sinks were drooping until we physically showed him, claiming Eli only informed him to "re-caulk" the sinks.  Really?  I don't like wasting my time or yours, but when there's a problem, there's a problem.  Why would we have you over if there wasn't?

Then the work began, sawing wood, hammering, and drilling, and he was done within an hour and a half.  The worker then cleaned up quickly and told us he was done.  When he said he "caulked" the sink, I told him Eli said silicone.  His reply was "Eli told me to caulk".   We're going to assume he meant silicone caulk, but to be honest, we still don't know whether we have caulk or silicone between our sinks and whether it waterproofs or not. I wasn't going to argue this with him, and away he went while I was upstairs inspecting the work.  He cleaned up and left within 5 mins so that left very little time to review his work.  Needless to say, after he left, that's when I discovered all sorts of problems with the sinks.

First, he didn't remove the old silicone before applying the new caulking.  We're hoping the new caulk will bond to the old silicone but we're not going to hold our breath on that one.  God forbid it separates. My husband has decided to just reseal it himself as we are not letting them set foot in our bathrooms ever again.  UPDATE: When I went to clean the sinks 2 nights later, I discovered the "caulk" isn't even waterproof.  It comes off when you simply rub it with your fingers (like eraser bits) or simply washes away with water.

Next, I peeked under the sinks and NOT to my surprise, the posted photos will show you what I discovered.  There were 2 strips of wood nailed into the plywood under each sink.  On 3 of them, the wood is chipped or cracked from driving in the nails.  On 1 of them, there are so many screws, some of them even missed the wood.  My initial instinct was that they were there to hold in the wood until I realized they don't because there is a gap between the nail and wood.  I then realized those nails are there because they had gotten stuck in the wood and the worker didn't bother removing them.  So now the plywood underneath our sinks have several needless nails & holes.  Not that anyone is going to look under our sinks, but we don't want to have so many holes in the plywood that is holding up the granite countertop; if the plywood is compromised, clearly they can't do their job.

Then, out of curiosity, I stuck my hand between the wood strip and the sink.  Again, not to my surprise, what do I discover? There is a gap.  Enough so that I can stick my entire hand in there.  And not a single piece of wood between the wood strip and sink.  What does that mean?  The wood is there for appearance; there remains nothing to support my sinks.

Are we angry, frustrated, disappointed, and appalled?  You bet.  But are we surprised? No.  This isn't our first warranty call.  The first time we had to call them because we were having cracks in our tiled shower grout.  Turns out, they used regular grout for the joints between the shower walls and floor instead of silicone grout to allow for movement like the code calls for.  They "fixed" it using premixed grout, the type you're not suppose to use in showers according to all the online research, contractor forums, and contractors I've talked to.  In honesty though, we haven't had any additional cracks in the grout since then.  How long they'll hold up or whether water's penetrating through them, we imagine we won't know for a couple years until it gets really bad.

We also imagine US Home Developers will post a response to our review and if they hold up to their Angie's List status, reach out to try and remedy the situation.  If they're professional, they will admit their mistakes in their response.  If they're not, the response will likely state that we were difficult homeowners to work with, they did a lot of work for our bathrooms beyond contracted scope, that they went out of their way and we're ungrateful, that the work they've done is according to industry standards, that we're lying/exaggerating, or a myriad of other excuses or explanations.  They may even claim we don't know much about construction.  As attorneys who have practiced construction and real estate litigation for at least half of the last decade, our experience, knowledge, and careers would demonstrate otherwise.

Although we have another year of warranty left, you bet we will not  be availing ourselves to it.  We interviewed several contractors for our bathrooms and hired US Home Developers because they were highly rated on Angie's List.  When problems first came up, we thought it was because we had a bad crew.  But after 3 different interactions with them including 2 warranty calls, we're resigned to believe that their work is substandard at best.  They had chance after chance to redeem themselves, but at each turn, we were only met with more disappointment and problems to address.  We really wanted to leave a glowing review for them, especially Regev who was always more than helpful and patient, but we just find it difficult to do so after all the negative impressions they've left behind.

NOTE: The metal clips seen in the photos were put in when they originally put in the sinks.  That was the only mechanical system put in to support the sinks when they were installed."
